At the heart of EcoLive 254 work lies a simple but vital truth: everything is connected. We operate under a holistic Source-to-Sea (S2S) approach, recognizing that the health of our hilltop forests and inland farmlands directly dictates the health of our rivers and coastal mangrove ecosystems.
The video below offers the view of Mrima Forest taken directly from the Majoreni mangrove forests. This visual connection is living evidence that environmental decisions cannot be made in isolation. The proposed mining activities in the Mrima forest threaten far more than just the forest’s internal diversity; they pose a direct risk to the entire interconnected ecosystem that sustains our coastal communities.

🌳 Celebrating the International Day of Forests 2026 🌍

Yesterday, we joined the world in marking the International Day of Forests under the theme “Forests and Economies.”

In Kwale County, the celebrations were held at Shimba Hills, bringing together communities, conservation partners, and stakeholders in an event organized by the Kenya Forest Service alongside key collaborators.

At EcoLive 254, we recognize that forests are more than just natural landscapes; they are powerful economic engines. From supporting livelihoods and creating green jobs to sustaining biodiversity and enhancing climate resilience, forests play a vital role in both local and global economies.

As we reflect on this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting sustainable forest management, community-driven restoration, and conservation initiatives that ensure forests continue to thrive for generations to come.

Climate justice is our key responsibility. It starts with conserving what we have. Thanks to the voices of many as they have fought for Karura forest " lungs of our city".

Our voices really matter.

I am happy that the government has finally listened to the voice of reason.

In my efforts of restoring our biodiversity through the establishment of my forests, I need to feel secure.

I need to know that my efforts will not be in vain.

And not my efforts alone...

The efforts of all the young children and the youth, especially those that work in partnership with me.

The efforts of all those environmentalists , the efforts of all those who encourage me day in day out.

We should not celebrate the stopping of cutting down a forest as a country committed to growing 15 billion trees!

We should not celebrate the stopping of cutting down a forest as a country faced with so many climate change effects..

Floods, famine etc

We should be celebrating new ideas to restore our arid and semi arid areas!

We should be celebrating establishments of new forests!

Many forests across the country are not safe. And we will not be silent.
