Environmental conservation takes more than planting trees. It requires commitment to nurturing them, protecting our natural resources, and inspiring communities to take action.

As part of Mazingira Day 2026, We joined the County Government of Kajiado and other stakeholders in a tree-planting exercise and community sensitization on the importance of environmental conservation.

Our Director, Mr. Victone, joined the plenary at the Participatory Impact Session in Kajiado County, hosted by the Kenya Meteorological Service, to unpack the behavioural changes and barriers that influence how communities understand, anticipate and prepare for climate risks.
Through SOWING CHANGE, Inuka is working with communities to turn climate information into practical decisions and action.

If women & girls could rewrite the rules, what would they change first?

A woman should be able to ask questions about her body, relationships, sexual and reproductive health, safety and future without fear, shame or judgement.

But meaningful change starts when we listen to women, not just speak for them.

At Inuka, we create spaces where girls and women can have honest conversations around sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, consent, relationships and personal safety.

A forecast on paper is only useful when it reaches the people who can act on it.

Across Kuku, Kimana and Lengesim/Entonet Wards, women group representatives are taking the OND seasonal climate advisory from planning rooms to community conversations.
Farmers and pastoralists are receiving timely information to help them prepare for the season ahead, from crop production and livestock management to water planning and other climate-sensitive activities.

But these women are doing more than sharing information. They are helping translate climate forecasts into practical decisions that make sense for their communities, while strengthening their role as climate information champions and agents of resilience.

For young agro-pastoralists, climate information can mean the difference between protecting a livelihood and facing unexpected losses.

A 3-day Youth Participatory Scenario Planning (PSP) Workshop was held from 15–17 September 2026 at Grand African Plate Hotel, Loitoktok, Kajiado County, with support from ICPAC through the AGRA Project.

The workshop brought together 40 agro-pastoralist youth representatives, alongside ICPAC and Agriculture Directorate representatives, and was graced by KMSA Institute Director, Mr. Bernard Chanzu.
Hosted by County Director of Meteorological Services, Benson Lubang’a, the forum strengthened youth participation in interpreting climate information and indigenous knowledge and translating it into practical actions for resilient livelihoods, preparedness and climate adaptation.

Equipping young people with the right information helps them make better decisions for their livelihoods and communities.
