On December 6, 2024, Million Reasons to Smile partnered with the Miral Foundation to celebrate the International Day for Persons with Disabilities at Kolunga Primary School in Kisumu County.

The event was themed "Inclusive Community with ACCESSIBILITY RIGHTS OF PWD," focusing on creating an accessible and inclusive environment for all.

The event addressed various aspects of accessibility, from mobility and physical accessibility to communication, information, and services.

Under the slogan "Easy Path Makes Equal Path," the program aimed to raise awareness and promote the rights of persons with disabilities (PWD).

Participants engaged in discussions and activities highlighting the importance of accessible infrastructure and inclusive policies. The event underscored the necessity of removing barriers to ensure equal opportunities for PWD in all aspects of life.

Million Reasons to Smile and the Miral Foundation reiterated their commitment to advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities and fostering a supportive community. The collaboration exemplifies their shared vision of a society where everyone can thrive and contribute, regardless of physical or cognitive challenges.

We engaged in interactive discussions , focusing on building self esteem, fostering resilience and encouraging them to pursue their dreams fearlessly.

Promoting Prevention Measures for Disabilities.

21/06/24: The Kenya Association of People with Epilepsy (KAWE) held an impactful event in Kisii, focusing on the prevention of disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and Autism.

This event highlighted the importance of a collaborative approach to improving healthcare access and promoting early interventions to ensure better health outcomes for children.

The discussions centered on increasing awareness and community engagement in addressing these critical issues and it also underscored the commitment of various organizations to work together in supporting vulnerable populations and enhancing public health.

During the event, the Deputy Governor emphasized the need to upgrade healthcare facilities and conduct immediate assessments of newborns. This, he noted, is essential in preventing conditions like cerebral palsy and autism, ensuring that children receive the necessary support from the earliest stages of life.

The event was a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive and supportive healthcare system, showcasing the power of collaboration and community involvement in tackling health challenges.

Educating Young Mothers on Cerebral Palsy.

Understanding the CP condition is crucial for parents and caregivers. Million Reasons To Smile conducted an educational session with young mothers and caregivers in Nyahera, providing them with essential knowledge about Cerebral Palsy.💚

During the session, we shared in-depth information on the condition,its causes and management techniques, highlighting the importance of early detection and intervention.

This educational initiative marked a significant step towards a more informed and supportive community, ensuring that young mothers are well-equipped to understand and manage Cerebral Palsy.

7/10/2024: Million Reasons To Smile joined the global community in commemorating the World's Cerebral Palsy Day under this year's theme, "UNIQUELY CP", at Joyland School in Kisumu County.

This is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about cerebral palsy and celebrating the lives of those affected by this condition.

By coming together on World Cerebral Palsy Day, we reaffirmed our commitment to creating an inclusive community where everyone, regardless of their abilities, is valued and respected.

It served as a reminder that with the right support and understanding, individuals with CP can lead fulfilling lives and achieve their dreams.
