Ugunja Community Resource Centre (UCRC) is a non-governmental organization located in Ugunja town, Ugunja Sub County in Siaya County in Western Kenya region. A visionary organization working to improve the quality of life in the community, the UCRC coordinates many innovative activities in collaboration with the local community, area CBOs, as well as national and international NGOs. UCRC is regist

ered with the Kenyan Ministry of Culture and Social Services and is currently a full member of the National NGO Council. UCRC is a community-run organization that strives to meet the many needs of the community whatever. originally set up to offer agriculture information to the community, UCRC has branched out to include a library, a community high school, a technical training institute for youth at risk, programme in computer training for the community and children, a savings and credit society, sustainable agriculture, orphans and vulnerable children, persons with disability, land rights, nursery and day preschool, peace and governance, a health centre and it coordinates youth programmes. UCRC is a membership-based organization, whose members comprise more than sixty local community groups, including vulnerable groups such as Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), support group for people living with HIV/AIDS, Women, Youth, church-based, and farmers’ groups. The groups share a commitment to alleviate poverty, increase food security, provide income generation opportunities and ensure continued sustainable development. UCRC strives to enhance socio-economic sustainable development through the empowerment of participating members.
