As we conclude two day 1st Regional Mental Health Conference, it calls for a moment of reflection of how much we can achieve when we come together, and share valuable ideas.

This conference hosted by Tinada Youth Action Africa brought together over 100 organizations and about 500 delegates across the region, provided opportunities to connect and share valuable ideas, to help us offer optimal services to our communities.

We are glad to have taken part in this very informative conference, and participated in 4 side events for the two days. Together we rise💪

We are participating in an ongoing Lake Region OPDs Hub workshop for Kisumu East Sub-County, organized by HOWID Organization.

Today's capacity building was centered around governance and financial literacy in OPDs for sustainable community engagements, where OPDs continue to acquire basic knowledge and skills needed to effectively run their respective OPDs.

On Saturday 6th September 2026, our Sports and Mental Health Departments conducted sports for health joint activity in Obino in Kolwa East, where we were benched marked by Better Me and Jijenge Youth in Action Organizations, for effective future collaboration plans.

We mentored the young female players from all teams on mental health issues, and life skills, and encouraged them to continue being young role models in the community by influencing good behaviours and discipline.

On 2nd September 2026, we participated in Kisumu East Sub-County OPDs Hub forum as the hosting Organization for an event organized by HOWID organization, supported by CBM Global Inclusion, at Angola Community Hall, in Kolwa East Ward.

The objective of this event was to build the capacity and empower persons with disability in line with the Kisumu County Disability Act 2025, and other affiliated laws safeguarding the interest of disabled persons around the county.

This marked the begining of series of sensitization campaigns, which will take place in all wards in Kisumu East Sub County. As the Secretary of the Lake Region Disability Hub for Kisumu East, we'll be participating in the subsequent events.

The event was presided over by HOWID organization under care of Madam Caroline Agwanda, who also doubles up as the Governor's Advisor on disability issues in Kisumu County.

Yesterday our team visited Better Me Youth Organization and Jijenge Youth in Action Organization where we explored partnership opportunities on Sports for Health.

Our organizations will now be collaborating on Sports for junior youths under Fifa Foundation, starting with an activity slated for 12th September 2026 at Obino, Kolwa East Ward.

Our commitment is geared towards ensuring that our young boys and girls are actively engaged and their talents nurtured for future productivity in our communities.

On Wednesday our team, led by Ms Beryl Aketch participated in a workshop organized by Transform Empowerment Initiative (TEAM) at Bishop Okulu Hall at St.Stephen Cathedral in Kisumu.

The main focus was on Election Amendment Bill, with emphasis on issue based politics, especially among the young people, and the need for peace building during electioneering period, as a result of information manipulation.
