CABE Africa is proud to be represented at the Evidence to Action Conference 2026 in Accra, Ghana, by Executive Director Patrick Odame and Project Manager Lucy Adoyo.

The journey toward strengthening evidence-informed decision-making in Africa is underway as delegates from across the continent gather to explore how research and evidence can be effectively translated into policies that create meaningful change.

The E2A2026 Pre-Conference Side Event, hosted at the ISSER Centre, University of Ghana, brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and development partners to exchange lessons, share innovations, and identify best-fit approaches for advancing evidence-informed decision-making across Africa.

Yesterday, we officially commenced the baseline survey under the project aimed at strengthening youth-led Agri-SMEs and transforming agrifood systems in Kenya. The survey seeks to:

* Assess the participation and scale of youth-led Agri-SMEs.
* Identify opportunities for enterprise growth and scaling.
* Determine technical assistance and capacity-building needs.
* Identify critical skills gaps requiring mentorship and support for sustainable enterprise development.

As part of the exercise, we engaged key stakeholders in Kakamega County, including:

* Mophat Mandela, County Executive Committee Member (CEC) for Agriculture.
* Dr. Nyamu, Chief Principal of Shamberere National Polytechnic.
* Monica Rapando, Project Officer at Practical Action.
* Titus Omengo, Director of Agriculture.

The discussions provided valuable insights into the current state of youth-led agribusinesses, existing challenges, opportunities for value addition, market access, skills development, and strategies for creating sustainable employment through agrifood systems transformation.

At the Centre for African Bio-Entrepreneurship (CABE-Africa), impact is measured not just in numbers, but in transformed lives.

One of our beneficiaries Joseph Musyoka is turning opportunity into action through Digi-seedlings at Wealth Tree Nurseries and Landscapers, creating spaces where young people work, learn, and earn.

Through practical nursery and landscaping operations, youth are gaining hands-on skills in:

• Environmental stewardship
• Sustainable plant production
• Teamwork and discipline
• Workplace professionalism

This is more than tree planting.
It is intentional job creation.
It is skills development.
It is climate resilience in motion.

Every seed in the soil represents a young person gaining confidence, competence, and a pathway to self-reliance.
