🌍The world we want begins at home. Ahead of this weekend, we stand for women who hold families together and deserve a home that holds them.🏠🏠

A safe home is not a privilege. For millions of women and families across Kenya, it is the foundation on which health, dignity, education, and opportunity are built.

At , we believe must be felt in the walls of a home, not just proclaimed in policies and promises with little or no action.

Every borehole drilled unlocks endless possibilities for once water-stricken communities.

In , this is what access to clean, safe water looks like 👉dignity restored, time saved, health protected and hope renewed.

Through climate-smart boreholes which are fully equipped with solar-powered pumping systems and prepaid dispensing units, communities can now self-serve and access water efficiently, ensuring accountability for every drop while creating a sustainable revenue stream for long-term sustainability.

Today, more than 3,000 households have access to climate-resilient water supply services, providing enough water for both household use and farming.

And this impact is being replicated across other counties where we work, transforming lives one community at a time.

💡When communities have access to safe water and sanitation, what was once a daily burden becomes an opportunity.

📍 In , , Habitat for Humanity Kenya, in partnership with local communities and the county government, is delivering sustainable water solutions that are transforming lives.

Today, more than 3,000 households can reliably access clean water closer to home — saving them time and ensuring enough for household use and farming.

Through climate-smart demonstration farms, families are gaining practical skills to adapt to erratic weather and declining soil fertility, boosting both nutrition and household incomes.

What happens when staff come together with a shared commitment to transformation? Change happens.

Recently, we had the privilege of hosting colleagues from the Habitat for Humanity International Global Talent Management team and the Habitat for Humanity Africa Area Office for a special staff build in Kyumbi Area, Machakos County, Kenya.

Together💪with local community members, the team contributed to the construction of an Early Childhood Development (ECD) classroom as part of the Ujenzi Fiti Project — commissioned in 2025 by our CEO Jonathan Reckford, with valued support from Dow Chemicals East Africa.

The new classroom will replace an overcrowded temporary iron-sheet classroom and provide a safe environment where children can learn and thrive.

Guided by skilled local artisans, the team mixed concrete, produced eco-friendly Interlocking Soil Stabilized Blocks (ISSBs), and build with them on-site.

The experience was a deeply moving reminder that home is more than a roof. It is safety, dignity, and access to quality education.

🏠🤝 Strengthening Partnerships for Safe and Decent Housing

We're thrilled to announce that Habitat for Humanity Kenya, SELAVIP Foundation, and the County Government of Kakamega have officially partnered through a Memorandum of Understanding signed today! Led by our National Director Dr. Eileen Mokaya, alongside SELAVIP's Flore Wittouck and H.E. Governor Fernandes Barasa, this collaboration will strengthen our efforts to deliver safe and decent housing for vulnerable families across Kakamega County.

The engagement centered on the use of - an innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution that applies a drying-oil-based sealant to create durable, cleanable resin finishes for floors. The same binding sealant is used on walls through plastering, significantly improving indoor living conditions and overall habitability.

With support from and in collaboration with the County Government of Kakamega, we will advance the use of this technology to build new and improve existing houses into safe, habitable homes that promote dignity, decency, and family well-being.

This partnership reaffirms our shared commitment to addressing housing needs for vulnerable families through innovative, inclusive, and sustainable housing solutions.
