Halima Mohamed is a passionate community advocate from Rabai, Kilifi County, and the Founder of Rabai Voices for Change, a women-led grassroots organization dedicated to empowering women, girls, and youth to live with dignity, voice, and opportunity. She is a firm believer that sustainable community development begins at the grassroots level, where voices are often unheard but solutions are most needed.
Her work focuses on women and girls’ rights, education retention, gender-based violence prevention, youth empowerment, and community accountability. Through community dialogues, advocacy forums, mentorship programs, and civic engagement initiatives, Halima has consistently worked to create safe and inclusive spaces where women and young people can speak up, be heard, and actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and communities.
Halima currently serves as the Secretary of the Women’s Assembly under Action for Empowerment (AFE), where she plays a key role in strengthening women’s leadership, amplifying grassroots voices, and promoting inclusive and transparent governance. Her involvement in civil society has equipped her with strong skills in community mobilization, leadership development, advocacy, and social accountability, all anchored in people-centered and sustainable solutions.
She is driven by the belief that empowering women and girls with education, confidence, leadership skills, and opportunities not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens families, communities, and future generations.
Her key focus areas include:
* Women and Girls Empowerment
* Grassroots Advocacy and Social Accountability
* GBV Prevention and Community Dialogue
* Youth Engagement and Leadership Development
Halima believes that when women and girls are empowered to lead, communities don’t just survive — they thrive.
