When young people are informed, empowered, and supported, communities become safer and stronger.

We participated in a training at the Youth Voices & Action Initiative offices focusing on major issues affecting youth, especially young men. These include drug and substance abuse, unemployment, school dropouts, peer pressure, crime, discrimination, weak policy systems, negative masculinity, political exploitation, and mental health challenges. The session engaged in training on key youth issues: drug & substance abuse, unemployment, school dropouts, crime, peer pressure, weak policy systems, and mental health challenges.

Under the theme “Nisaidie, Usinidhuru”, discussions also covered Gender-Based Violence recovery services including post-rape care within 72 hours, post-abortion care, counseling, mental health support, HIV & STI awareness, and safe support for unplanned pregnancies, with strong emphasis on seeking professional help and community support. Let’s strengthen awareness, support systems, and youth-led solutions for safer and healthier communities.

Our members participated in a public participation forum on the Kilifi County Budget Estimates for the Financial Year 2026/2027, contributing their perspectives on community priorities and development needs.

Active citizenship is strengthened through consistent engagement, dialogue, and participation in spaces where decisions are made.

Showing up for such forums and taking part in the conversations, ensures our voices help shape the priorities of our communities.

We’re excited to continue engaging with SCHMTs across different sub-counties as we gear up for the SHIELD Program implementation. Our key focus right this week being Kilifi North, where we’ve already held a successful inception meeting and kicked off coordination with with the subcounty health management team and key stakeholders.

Next steps are underway, including engagement with the County School Health Coordinator for school selection, as we prepare to expand to Kilifi South soon.

Looking forward to the impact ahead!

We participated in the Inclusive Care Reform sensitisation workshop convened by the State Department for Children Services in Kilifi, alongside key partners including Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK). The engagement underscored a transformative shift from institutional care to family- and community-based systems strengthening families, supporting reintegration, and advancing inclusive care pathways that uphold dignity, belonging, and holistic wellbeing for every child. At the heart of this is meaningful child participation and ensuring that children with disabilities are fully included and heard.

The formation of a Children’s Network, alongside the upcoming county Child Assembly , signals strong momentum toward more coordinated, inclusive, and sustainable child protection systems. The future of child protection is being shaped now through shared responsibility, intentional systems, and actions that place every child at the center.

Viongozi wa dini na wazee wa kaya wakisimama k**a mentors, wanaweza kuunda spaces za ukweli, usikilizaji, na mwongozo bila hukumu. Tukiongea wazi, tunalinda maisha na future ya vijana wetu.

Today , we joined Kilifi Department of Health and Sanitation Services , partners, stakeholders, and the community at Kibaoni Social Hall for a collective effort to strengthen awareness and action in the fight against malaria under the theme “Cross the Bridge, End Malaria.” The event featured a colourful procession and community engagement sessions that emphasized shared responsibility in malaria prevention and control.

The event also created access to integrated free health services, including malaria testing, cervical and breast cancer screening, HIV testing, as well as disability assessment and registration, complemented by powerful performances and testimonies that amplified key health messages. This collective effort reflects a strong commitment to community-centered health action and a continued drive toward a healthier, malaria-free Kilifi.
