Confidence. Growth. Readiness. This is how our learners returned to school this term.

They did not return as they left a few weeks ago. They are more confident better prepared and eager to learn.

During the April break Candlelight for Empowerment brought together our sponsored learners at the office for an end of term evaluation. This provided an opportunity to understand their academic progress assess their wellbeing at home identify areas where additional support is needed and address any child protection concerns.

We also created space for growth beyond academics. Through enrichment trainings, play based learning, role play storytelling and guided peer discussions learners strengthened their confidence practiced real life decision making as well as deepened their sense of voice and identity.

At Candlelight we are not only focused on academic performance we are committed to nurturing resilient empowered and well rounded young people.

If you believe in education that goes beyond the classroom we invite you to partner with us to keep girls learning leading and thriving.

You made this possible 💛

Because of your support, we have successfully raised funds to empower teen mothers and help them build sustainable livelihoods.

We did not just guess what they need, we asked them.

After in-depth conversations with the young mothers, one skill stood out above the rest: baking. It’s practical, in demand and something they’re excited to learn and turn into income.

So we are starting there.

Now, we are looking for a passionate Baking Expert and a committed Intern to train and mentor these young women as they take their first steps into business.

This is more than a role, it’s a chance to create real impact.

👉 If you have the skills and the heart to empower others, we want to hear from you.

📩 Send us a message or email us to apply.

🌟 Another Story of Hope: Juliet’s Journey

Following our recent success stories, we are pleased to share another inspiring journey from one of our beneficiaries.

Juliet’s path has been marked by determination and resilience. Despite financial challenges that at times made her education uncertain, she remained committed to her goals and continued to persevere.

Her efforts have now borne fruit. Juliet sat for her KCSE examinations and attained a B (plain), a strong performance that reflects both her hard work and the support she received along the way.

With this achievement, Juliet is now one step closer to realizing her dream of becoming a lawyer. She approaches the future with renewed confidence, clarity and hope.

“I now believe my dreams are valid and possible.”

Juliet’s story is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when young people are supported to stay in school and pursue their aspirations.

💛 Together, we continue to create pathways for girls to thrive and lead.

🌟 She Did It: Aisha’s Journey to Success 🎓

A dream that once felt uncertain is now within reach.

Three of our beneficiaries sat for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations and all performed strongly with two attaining a B (plain) and one a B-.

As the Executive Director I continue to learn the importance of creating space for our beneficiaries to share their own voices because their experiences reflect the true impact of our work. I am pleased to share one such story.

Aisha remained focused despite the challenges she encountered and her commitment to her education has yielded meaningful results. Today she stands ready to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse a future that once seemed beyond her reach.

“I am grateful for the support I received. It gave me the strength to keep going and believe in my future.”

This achievement represents more than academic success. It reflects what is possible when young people are supported empowered and given the opportunity to thrive.

💛 Act now. Support a child’s education and help turn potential into opportunity. Donate today partner with us or share this story to expand our reach. Your action can change a life.

It is always a privilege to share our why and the purpose that drives our work with partners who are equally committed to creating meaningful impact.

Last week, our Executive Director had the honor of speaking at the Rotary Club of Mombasa where we shared insights from our teen mothers empowerment project currently being implemented by Candlelight.

The warm reception and thoughtful discussions reinforced the importance of collaboration in supporting and uplifting young mothers within our communities.

We are grateful for the platform, the connections and the shared commitment to creating lasting change. We look forward to continuing this journey together.

I am honored to have participated in the Meet Her event alongside 16 exceptional changemakers and social entrepreneurs from across the globe 🌍✨

The experience was deeply inspiring bringing together bold ideas powerful stories and a shared commitment to addressing some of the most urgent challenges in our communities. It was a powerful reminder that meaningful change is not only possible it is already happening through collective action and leadership.

It was inspiring to contribute to this space and to witness the impact driven work led by women across different contexts.

My sincere appreciation to How Women Lead for this opportunity and to Julie Castro Abrams, Tanya Monsef and Claudia Romero Searle for thoughtfully curating this experience and for their continued support throughout the journey.

As this journey continues, I remain energized and deeply committed to advancing solutions that create safe thriving futures for children, youth and women in Kenya.
