A period should never stop a girl from learning, playing, showing up, or simply being herself.
Last Saturday at Destiny Junior Primary School in Mathare, we spent time with amazing girls during a mentorship session and continued something that matters deeply to us and that we have done for years past - helping ensure girls have access to sanitary pads and supportive conversations around menstrual health.
World Menstrual Hygiene Day reminds us that access to period products is not a luxury. For many girls, it is the difference between confidence and shame, attendance and absence, participation and isolation.
