Ushirika Children Centre was founded in the year 2000 and is a ‘youth inspired project’ spearheaded by Youth Development Forum YDF which is actively involved in the lives of the marginalized children and gives life-line support to children of Kibera – Laini saba in collaboration with the community.

BUNGOMA HERE WE COME🎶From the heart of Kibera to the National Stage in Bungoma! Ushirika School has made history. Our amazing choir, dancers and instrumentalists have qualified for the Kenya National Music Festivals in Bungoma this year! For our children, this is more than a competition. It’s hope. It’s dignity. It’s proof that talent can bloom even in the toughest places. But we need YOUR help to get them there. These children practice every day after class, with nothing but passion and borrowed instruments. They are carrying the name of Kibera, and all of us. We cannot let lack of money silence them.

While our children are on mid term break, teachers had a meeting. This is the team that guides our children, shapes their character, and shows up daily with patience and love. This team does not just educate minds- it nurtures futures And Behind every confident, talented Ushirika child is a teacher here who believed first.
Thank you for guiding AND educating. For correcting with love and pushing with purpose. Ushirika is strong because you are. This teachers guide, mentor, encourage, and educate—often long after the bell rings.

To every teacher who wipes tears, answers “one more question,” and reminds a child “you can”: Thank you for building lives, not just lessons.

Thank you AVSI Kenya for the visit at Ushirika School Kibera, Your dance, songs, and sweet treats didn’t just entertain our kids—you reminded them they’re seen, loved, and valued. The joy on their faces said it all. We’re grateful for your hearts and your time. As we close school for the mid term break you brought hope, laughter, and memories our children will carry for a long time. Today at Ushirika School, we turned periods into POWER!

We celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day with open talks, fun activities, and lots of learning. Our girls walked away confident, informed, and ready to break the stigma.
Thank you to our teachers, students, and partners who made today’s celebrations a success. We learned, we laughed, and we committed to keeping our school a period-friendly, stigma-free space.

Every girl deserves to learn without worry. Period.

Today’s Cultural & Talent Day, organized by Nami Organization, was pure magic. From traditional dances and spoken word to singing, drama, and art - our students showed the world their talent, pride, and creativity.
