We are privileged to be part of Unpaid Care Work Program that has been advocating for equality in our communities and the entire nation.
Through this program, we have been into a long of data research, visits to government institutions, involvement and submission of petitions and memorandum during public participation, involvement in legislation processes, lobbying and community engagement aiming at contribution to the development of the Care Economy Policy.
During this meeting CS of Gender Hon. Hanna Wendot Cheptumo was among key guests who were present. She insisted that social issues should be addressed from grassroots to policy development. She was also very positive on our community engagement frameworks.

We had an incredible session at the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) Thika, where KCEN, in partnership with Brighter Monday, conducted an impactful soft skills training. Through this initiative, we were able to reach and empower over 400 enthusiastic youths, equipping them with essential skills for personal and professional growth. Being part of Kiambu residents, Kiambu County government and Community Bazed Organizations that participated in tree planting exercise that was being held in Kabete Subcounty along Ondiri Wetlands and Nyongara River(Tributaries of Nairobi River) was such a privilege. Our network chairlady Aunty Rose was among members who participated during this exercise.

We are grateful to be part of this exercise, knowing very well that we have invested in our future and future of coming generations. Youths are encouraged to participate in such initiatives and ensure that our environment is safe that’s by involving themselves in environment friendly activities.

Kiambu County Empowerment Network (KCEN) in partnership with the Office of the Vice President at MKU Thika, was delighted to host a Soft Skills Training by BrighterMonday Kenya on 9th October 2025

The energy in the Indoor Arena was amazing! Students came eager to learn, share, and grow.
Together,we explored what truly makes a difference in life and career.

The Earth is our only home—let's keep it clean and green. This Mazingira Day, we have pledged to be a part of the solution, not the pollution. We are coming to plant hope in Kabete Constituency, we will be joining other organizations and Kiambu residents in this initiative. Our future depends on a healthy Earth and we MUST ensure that we are keeping it clean.

As a network, we understand that nature doesn't need us but we need nature. Small acts, when multiplied by millions, can transform the world. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

Today KCEN held a breakfast meeting where all member organizations were encouraged to send their representatives. During this meeting, we discussed ongoing Youth employment program in soft skills in partnership with Brighter Monday. This is a program that we have been running for the last 3 months and as and it will continue for the next 8months.

Members shared the challenges faced, success stories and way forward towards making youths more empowered. Members were as well reminded on the different network policies towards making the network a great network.
We vowed to strengthen our structure and make our presence felt in all corners of Kiambu County.

Residents of Limuru subcounty, Limuru Central ward, came in their large numbers for an empowerment session in Kamirithu Polytechnic.

This is an initiative that we have been spearheading in Kiambu for the last 3 months, and we are still inviting youths to participate in the ongoing trainings. BrighterMonday Kenya are providing professionals who are tasked to equip our youths with soft skills, which we believe will help Kiambu youths to grab opportunities when they come.

Let’s popularise these initiatives and ensure that our youths are empowered with the right skills.

Kiambu County Government has invited members of the public to attend a series of public participation forums focused on the County’s Revenue Mobilization Strategy for the current financial year.

In response, Kiambu County Empowerment Network (KCEN) warmly invites you to join us in a collaborative session where we will unpack and demystify the draft Kiambu County Finance Bill, 2025. Our goal is to help residents better understand the contents of the draft so we can prepare together for meaningful and informed engagement with county officials during the scheduled forums on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.

This is an important opportunity for all of us to contribute to how our county raises and manages its revenues. Your voice matters and your participation can help shape policies that directly affect our communities.

We had a training with Thika Institute of Business Studies - TIBS students. Students attended in their numbers and BrighterMonday Kenya’s professional trainers had an easy time teaching and taking students through soft skills training.

Kiambu County youths, institutions and colleges are encouraged to be part of the ongoing program. This is by attending these trainings whenever there is a training around your neighborhood.
Trainees who attend these trainings are provided with refreshments and later awarded certificates for successfully completing the course.

Lari subcounty youths were well represented in a training that was hosted in K.A.G Church Kinali Ward. Despite the harsh weather conditions, Kinali youths were determined to get the knowledge given by BrighterMonday Kenya trainers.

The whole session was engaging, Kinali youths were eager to learn more about soft skills and how they can apply them in life and today’s job market.
This was encouraging to both KCEN Team and BrighterMonday Kenya Team. Later everyone went home with his/her certificate after the training.

If this is the direction youths are now taking, then we are convinced that this country’s future is promising.
We will continue encouraging youths to attend these trainings, come with an aim of improving your lives.
