In Lower Yatta, Kitui County:

🔹 25,500+ people.
🔹 9,504 of them are children.
🔹Only 14% of households have water within their compounds.
🔹 53% of the community depends on seasonal, unprotected water from River Tiva and River Athi.
🔹In Masimba and Kithiani, there is no reliable safe water source at all.

These are not statistics. These are children waking up every morning to a problem we can help solve.

We joined Her Excellency First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto at State House Kenya today for a high-level side event to tackle a timely question: How do we keep kids safe in an AI-driven world?

The best answers came from the children:
📢 "We want to explore the digital world without looking over our shoulders." - Grace*, 14
📢 " Teach us how to stay safe online, and include us when you make the rules." - Brian*, 15

At World Vision Kenya, we believe child protection doesn't stop at the school gate or the front door; it extends to every screen, every platform, every digital space our children inhabit.

We are proud to stand with every effort that ensures children are protected online and empowered to shape the very future of technology.

A mother’s love is often quiet, but its impact is loud.

It shows up in early mornings, long walks, shared meals, and whispered prayers.

To every mother doing her best with what she has, we honor you today.

Your strength builds families.
Your courage builds communities.
Your love builds the future.

Happy Mother’s Day 🧡

In Lower Yatta, Kitui County, over 9,500 children walk kilometres every day just to fetch water.

Many are girls who arrive at school too exhausted to learn, or they don't arrive at all.

On 13th June, we invite you to run, cycle, or walk with us, so that the children don't have to walk as far to get water.

Register for the run via this link: https://bit.ly/4wbQOMt

Through the Greater Regeneration for Evergreen Environment (GREEN) Project, World Vision Kenya is strengthening collaboration with research institutions to advance research, outreach, and community training on Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR).

In partnership with SOUTH Eastern KENYA University (SEKU), 53 students (29 female, 24 male) have since enrolled in a self-paced online FMNR course, equipping the next generation with practical, climate-smart restoration skills.

Together with students and the surrounding community, we’ve also established an FMNR demonstration site at the university, creating a living classroom for learning, innovation, and long-term environmental stewardship.
