We celebrate ALL MOTHERS today, regardless of how they got the title. 💐

Whether you see their babies or not. They are mothers.

Holding space and sending extra love to all mums in the wait, mums grieving a baby loss, those missing their mums, and all having a little hard time today. Feel acknowledged. 💐

Our final session for Kapenguria cohort 2 discussed significant days especially with coming up. Why these days are particularly difficult and why. How these days affect emotions and routines, coping strategies and finding hope and meaning and honouring our babies.

Today was a gentle space to acknowledge these days and the emotions that came with it.

We also shared our gratitude for each other and for this community.

We appreciated those who represented in the giving back activity at Sunflower Children's Home.

We'll keep supporting others and advocating for quality care, compassionate bereavement care, and of preventable pregnancy, infant and child .

Grief doesn't look the same for everyone, and for Black dads who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss, finding a space that truly sees and understands your experience is crucial.

We welcome you to join our Black Dads in Loss support group 🖤

This group was created specifically for Black fathers navigating the pain of miscarriage, infant loss, or infertility, a safe space to share, heal, and find hope alongside other dads who understand.

✨ Next session: April 26
📅 Meets the 4th Sunday of each month at 9 PM ET

REBUILDING IDENTITY AFTER LOSS .

During our peer support group we discussed how to get back up!

1. Who am I now?
Loss changes you—it doesn’t erase you.
Take time to rediscover yourself, you are still worthy, still whole, even in pain.
2. Do not blame yourself.
You did your best with what you knew and had at the time.
Release guilt gently—your story is not one of failure, but of love.
3. What triggers me? What helps me?
Notice what brings waves of pain—places, dates, words, memories.
Also notice what brings comfort—prayer, talking, rest, nature, support.
Give yourself permission to protect your peace.
4. Write down small goals and routines for your day
Healing doesn’t happen all at once.
Simple routines—waking up, eating, resting, connecting—can slowly rebuild stability.
Small steps are still progress.
5. Ways I honour my baby
Love doesn’t end with loss.
You can honour your baby in your own way:
Saying their name
Lighting a candle
Helping other mothers
Creating something in their memory
Praying or reflecting

There is no “right” way—only your way.

GRIEF AND RELATIONSHIPS

This was the topic earlier today at the pregnancy and infant loss peer support group for mums navigating this heartbreaking grief West Pokot.

Grief not only affects our hearts, but it also affects our relationships with our spouses, relatives, friends, and even colleagues at work.

Many couples and families may struggle after loss, not because they love each other less, but because individuals may grieve for the same child differently.

Throughout the week, we will share insights that came out of this conversation today.

How has grief impacted your relationships?
