GIRL AID PROJECT | Empowering Girls, Transforming Communities!

On 25th July 2025, we proudly launched the Girl Aid Project under the Kakuma Reading Society in collaboration with I Connect Kenya.

This powerful initiative is rooted in one mission: to support, uplift, and empower girls and young women in refugee and underserved communities through access to education, mentorship, digital literacy, and safe spaces for expression and growth.

We believe every girl matters and through this project, we are creating pathways for girls to lead, learn, and thrive.

Join us in spreading awareness, sharing ideas, and standing with the girls of Kakuma and beyond. The change begins with us and with you.

"ME" & "WE" | ADVOCATING FOR BOOKS.

In the world which is always changing how do Me and We change lives. Do We change lives by promoting self-ego or by helping others despite our own struggles.

Here in kakuma Reading Society " WE" change lives by organising books clubs in various high schools, libraries in communities, and events which promote reading sessions, public speaking, debates and spoken words. We partnered with I connect Kenya to fulfill our mission and vision for GAPS.

But how can " ME" change lives in me life and society I come from? Remember that am good at something like reading. So " ME" can borrow and lend books to me friends. " ME" also know photography and I will teach me fellows to takes good photos. So ME will advocate for something so do I.

So this is in poetic ways. But we all advocate for different reasons and for things. In Kakuma reading society we advocate for books and mentorship programs to help young people with books and creating meaningful impacts in them. So change lives with what you have from where you are!

# Narratives Narrate. Teny GD Teny

Years back I founded Art & Writing club. Now it is the most active and participating club in Kakuma refugee secondary school. with more than 200 participants.

Am delighted to teach and facilitate a very power course called "Powerful Narratives" which help students to write, rewrite, reshape and narrate their own powerful narratives.

Many a time Plan up to end. Do not give up. Everything good take time. Good things comes and goes. Just Stay Focus. DO something from where you are , with what you have. Just change lives by creating small things with more impacts.

The accreditation comes after three years of improvement and growth as an organisation, and it is particularly significant because it’s the first time either agency has granted accreditation to an institution working in a refugee context.
