Behind every borehole drilled, equipped or restored; every sanitation facility built in schools; every child supported; every caregiver reached; and every young person empowered, there is a team that chooses to show up again and again.

In Turkana County Kenya, IsraAID - Kenya works alongside refugee and host communities across WASH, Protection, Health, Nutrition and more responding to urgent needs while helping communities build resilience and create a stronger future.

Today, we pause to say thank you to every member of our team.

Thank you for your commitment.
Thank you for your compassion.
Thank you for listening, serving, and walking alongside communities with dignity and hope.

Humanitarian work is not just about what we do. It is about the people who care enough to keep showing up.

Happy World Humanitarian Day to the incredible IsraAID - Kenya team.

From learning to producing, the participants at Turkana Needy Children's Home are turning new skills into real opportunities.

When community have the skills, tools, and opportunity to build for themselves, the impact can last far beyond the training room.

This is what resilience looks like. This is what community-led change looks like.
And this what IsraAID - Kenya is doing with RLOs and CBOs in Kakuma.

Nourishing Mothers, Strengthening Communities

In Turkana West, access to the right nutrition at the right time can make a life changing difference.

With generous support from LDS (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) IsraAID - Kenya has distributed CSB++ specialized nutrition commodities to 27 Health Facilities in Turkana West Sub-County this for pregnant and breastfeeding women, alongside anthropometric equipment to five health facilities.

This support is helping health workers assess nutritional status more accurately, identify malnutrition early, and connect mothers and children to the care they need.

Every packet of nutrition support and every accurate measurement brings us closer to healthier mothers, stronger children, and more resilient communities.

This World Breastfeeding Week, IsraAID - Kenya is standing with mothers, fathers, and communities to give every child the healthiest possible start in life.

Through Mother-to-Mother and Father-to-Father Support Groups, as well as community outreach activities, we’ve been raising awareness on breastfeeding best practices, empowering families with the knowledge and support they need.

The journey continues with radio awareness, outreach promotion sessions, and the World Breastfeeding Week commemoration on 7 August, where inspiring teenage mothers will share their voices.

It's hard to put into words how dire and how frustrating this situation is. We watched entire communities digging into dry riverbeds, searching for water that isn't even safe to drink. We met families surviving on wild fruit alone, because there is simply nothing else.

These are solvable problems. They shouldn't still exist. But without enough funding, they do.

During last week visit, our communications team traveled to different areas where IsraAID - Kenya works, together with Tamar Kosky Lazarus, Cohen and Akinovic André Kingombe

We visited Kamojonkol village, where the drought has pushed the community to breaking point. , the village leader, shared with us:

"We used to rely on our riverbed for water, but now it has been dry for months. Our women and children walk over 6km every day just to reach the nearest pump, and even then, we are never sure if there will be enough. The little water we find closer to home is not safe, but we have no choice. We need help before this drought takes even more from us".

Water is one of the most basic human rights. This is a fully solvable problem. If you'd like to help bring safe water and food to some of the world's most overlooked communities, please support today www.israaid.org.

Strengthening Local Leadership for Safer Communities

On 16 July 2026, IsraAID - Kenya brought together Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) for a peer learning session focused on strengthening collaboration, coordination, and community-led service delivery.

Facilitated by the Government Child Protection Department, the session enhanced participants’ knowledge on child protection, safeguarding, and referral pathways while reinforcing the critical role local organizations play in protecting and supporting vulnerable children and families.

Through the exchange of experiences, lessons learned, and practical solutions, participants strengthened partnerships, promoted shared accountability, and identified ways to improve the quality and sustainability of community services.

IsraAID - Kenya remains committed to empowering local actors, building capacity, and creating platforms that foster learning, collaboration, and locally led solutions.

Together, we are building stronger partnerships, safer environments, and more resilient communities.
