Our program officer attended the Tisa Kenya Bi-Annual Agenda Setting Meeting. The meeting aimed to strengthen local CSOs' capacity to fight corruption, in partnership with Transparency International Kenya and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Kenya, co-funded by the European Union in Kenya.
The session covered the accountability framework local CSOs can use: the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, the Leadership and Integrity Act, the Office of the Controller of Budget, the Auditor General, and the Commission on Administrative Justice. Participants also unpacked the Access to Information Act and the Data Protection Act, and discussed how public agencies sometimes use the Access to Information Act itself as a reason to withhold information rather than share it.
In groups, participants drafted sample memoranda, petitions, and ATI requests tied to real follow-up needs on stalled projects, then reconvened to review and refine them together. Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung TI-Kenya Likuyani Community Empowerment Organization Autojinsia CBO
