Msembe Health Facility is also facing a serious lack of access to clean water. The facility’s water pump stopped working.
As a result, whenever the facility needs water, someone has to be paid to collect it from the river and bring it to the hospital. This is particularly concerning for a health facility, where reliable access to clean water is essential for hygiene, sanitation, patient care and the safe delivery of services. The lack of disbursements has affected almost every aspect of Msembe Health facility’s operations in Shinyalu isukha central ward. Casual workers have reportedly not been paid since November last year. The facility is also struggling to purchase medicines. According to the community, SHA payments are meant to provide facilities with funds that can then be used to restock essential drugs and support other operations. With these funds unavailable, the facility’s drug store is now nearly empty, with only a few medicines remaining and reportedly just one antibiotic available. A community member explained that whenever she visited the facility and used SHA to pay for services, the confirmation messages she received indicated Msembe Kipkaren rather than Msembe Shinyalu.This has raised concerns about whether the facility’s disbursements have been going to Msembe Kipkaren or what has happened to the money. The facility in charge has made follow-ups on the matter, but these efforts have so far not yielded a solution. We kindly request the The Ministry of Health to follow up on the issues brought up , a lot of community members depend on the facility. Msembe Health Facility in Shinyalu sub county isukha central ward has not received its SHA disbursements since November last year. This challenge is negatively impacting the facility’s ability to provide essential healthcare services.
The financial challenges have also prevented the facility from carrying out basic repairs and renovations. The facility has leaking roofs, including in the maternity ward, but there are currently no funds available to address the problem. Community members are particularly concerned about the situation because Shinyalu experiences heavy rainfall, and they fear that the condition of the facility will deteriorate further as the rainy season intensifies.
