Organisations for persons with disabilities (OPDS) participated in public participation On National policy for the prevention and management and control of alcohol drugs and substance abuse.
We later submitted a memorandum highlighting key issues for consideration in the policy.

8th March 2024 , This was not just an ordinary international women's day for women in Kakamega county , but a great memorable day for women with disabilities in the county . Donning in a colour that signifies royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition,The First Lady of Kakamega County ,H.E Prof.Janet Kasili Baraza joined multitude of women in celebrating this great day by encouraging women to advocate for their rights in various spheres including politics, property inheritance, governance and employment opportunities .
The years theme "Invest in Women to Accelerate Progress "was echoed by the Governor H.E Gov Fernandez Baraza who assured women of grants and Kazi mashinani programs as the womens economic empowerment programs .
To crown the day, The chairperson Kakamega County Disability Caucus Madam Lucy Mulombi was awarded the Disability Inclusion Champion Award by the county government of Kakamega for her advocacy on disability rights and mainstreaming .
Sincere gratitude to United Disabled Persons of Kenya -UDPK for ensuring women with disabilities across the 60 wards joined their fellow women in commemorated this great day at Approved grounds Kakamega .

Persons with Disabilities in lugari subcounty had reasons to smile after a successful free disability medical assessment day at Lumakanda hospital.
Kakamega County Disability Caucus in partnership with the County Government of Kakamega and Hon .Nabii Nabwera Daraja(MP.Lugari constituency) conducted a free disability medical assessment for persons with disabilities in the Lugari subcounty, an activity that made it possible for 150 persons with disabilities being assessed by doctors from Lumakanda hospital.This assessment will enable persons with disabilities to register with National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) ,thereafter they'll receive their disability registration certificates for meaningful leadership, engagement and development as per the constitution of kenya .
For ensuring a successful disability medical assessment, ,KCDC expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the team of medical personnel led by Doctor Evans Shapaya(physiotherapy department),Lumakanda hospital
Hon.Nabii Nabwera Daraja ,Member of Parliament Lugari constituency for supporting the process .
