We joined fellow Africans in commemorating African Liberation Day / AU Day in Nairobi under the theme "Decade of Return", a call to reflect on reparative justice, reconnect with the African diaspora as the 6th Region, and advance the aspirations of Agenda 2063.

The convening brought together Pan-African voices, policymakers, diplomats, business leaders, civil society actors, and development practitioners to engage in critical conversations on African unity, self-determination, heritage, and the continent's future. Contributions from distinguished Pan-African thinkers, including Prof. PLO Lumumba, Joshua Maponga, Dr. Young Piero, and other thought leaders, emphasized the importance of reclaiming African agency, strengthening solidarity across borders, and investing in transformative leadership.

A key takeaway was the call for young people to move beyond being beneficiaries of Africa's future and become active architects of it. Through civic engagement, leadership, innovation, and community action, youth have a vital role in advancing the Africa We Want.

As we reflect on the gains of liberation and the unfinished work ahead, we are reminded that the vision of Agenda 2063 will be realized through collective action, inclusive participation, and a renewed commitment to African-led solutions.

We conducted the first session with members of the newly formed Young Stars Club at Olkeri Secondary School. The interactive session provided a platform for students to explore gender concepts, challenge harmful stereotypes, and reflect on how positive social norms contribute to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and improved learning outcomes.

Through peer discussions and social mapping exercise, participants examined the role each individual can play in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where every learner can thrive. Students also reflected on their aspirations and the importance of making informed choices that support their personal growth and academic success.

A major highlight of the day was the official formation of the Young Stars Club, with members proudly selecting the club's name themselves, a demonstration of ownership, creativity, and enthusiasm for the journey ahead.

We look forward to supporting these young leaders as they strengthen their voices, promote positive values, and contribute to more peaceful, equitable, and inclusive communities.

Young people have a vital role to play in shaping the future of our natural resources.

We were deeply honored to participate in the Olkeri Community Forest Association formation convening, a significant step towards strengthening community-led forest conservation and sustainable resource management. As part of our commitment to youth civic engagement and environmental stewardship, three LIBAC staff members registered as CFA members to support and sustain our ongoing work with young people championing forest conservation.

The Association brings together diverse user groups including Nursery, Ecotourism, Education and Research, Firewood, Water, Beekeeping, and Chameleon Conservation, creating opportunities for communities to actively participate in protecting and benefiting from forest ecosystems.

We look forward to supporting meaningful youth participation in community governance, conservation efforts, and climate action initiatives that contribute to a resilient and sustainable future for all.

We welcome Kenya's commitment to strengthening access to justice for women and girls and advancing a survivor-centred response to gender-based violence.

The emphasis on prevention, protection, accountability, healing, and empowerment reflects the need for comprehensive and coordinated action that addresses both the root causes and consequences of inequality and violence.

We look forward to the implementation of these commitments and the meaningful inclusion of communities in the journey towards justice, dignity, and equality for all.

Menstrual health is a matter of dignity, confidence, and equal opportunity.

Today, we commemorated International Menstrual Hygiene Day at Olkeri Mixed Secondary School through separate engagements with girls and boys aimed at increasing awareness, challenging stigma, and promoting supportive attitudes around menstruation.

Girls participated in discussions on menstrual health, hygiene, and self-care, while boys explored the role they can play in fostering respect, empathy, and understanding within the school environment. To further support menstrual dignity, we also distributed sanitary pads to girls during the activity.

Despite growing awareness, menstrual stigma and limited access to menstrual products continue to affect the wellbeing and educational experiences of many girls. Creating informed, supportive, and inclusive environments remains essential to ensuring that every girl can manage menstruation safely, confidently, and with dignity.

Together, we can build a future where menstruation is understood, supported, and never a barrier to education, participation, or opportunity.

We participated in the Menstrual Health and Hygiene Summit 2026 organized by Kenya Works, joining different stakeholders in important conversations around the dignity, health, and well-being of women and girls.

The discussions reflected many of the realities adolescent girls and young women continue to face in schools and communities, including stigma, silence around menstruation, limited access to menstrual products, and lack of supportive spaces. These challenges continue to affect confidence, education, participation, and overall well-being.

The summit created space for honest engagement, shared experiences, and collective reflection on the need for practical and community-driven approaches that place the voices and lived experiences of girls and young women at the centre.

We were encouraged by the growing commitment from different actors to continue advancing awareness, dignity, and supportive environments where every girl can thrive without shame or exclusion.

Celebrating unity, culture, and community empowerment! We were honoured to attend the Food and Culture Day celebrations at Cshep Kenya Organic Foods

The event brought together community groups, farmers, women entrepreneurs, learners, and organisations to showcase cultural heritage, sustainable agriculture, and value addition initiatives that promote improved livelihoods and resilient communities.

We were also proud to have our women’s group from Matasia participate in the event to gain exposure and learn more about kitchen gardening, sustainable farming, and income-generating opportunities that can strengthen household food security.

Special thanks to CSHEP for organising such a meaningful and impactful event that created space for learning, networking, cultural appreciation, and community empowerment.
