Across landscapes worldwide, the health of our land is deeply tied to the knowledge, resilience, and leadership of Indigenous and local communities.

That’s why this moment matters.

IMPACT Kenya is part of the Organizing & Knowledge Committee for the Global Landscapes Forum Africa 2026—and will contribute to the Opening Plenary shaping the conversations ahead.

As the world marks the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists hashtag this conversation becomes even more urgent—recognizing the vital role pastoralist systems play in sustaining ecosystems, economies, and cultures.

Lasting progress on climate, food, and sustainability depends on recognizing and working alongside the communities who have cared for these landscapes for generations.

Join us in these conversation.

The grass bends.
The cattle move.
The wild follows ancient paths.
This is not chaos but natural choreography.

At the , we celebrate the quiet intelligence of rangelands and the people who have understood them for generations.

Pastoralism is not the past. It is a blueprint for the future.

Kenya Conservancies Fund is a new financing mechanism designed to provide financial and technical assistance to strengthen conservancies and transition them from nascent community institutions to self-reliant conservation and economic enterprises.

Brilliant!

In the Matapato rangelands, Rait Ntusero of Osewan Community Conservancy has long championed for community-led conservation. As part of the RAMAT Wildlife Society umbrella, Osewan has grown steadily under a shared vision.

At the Kenya Conservancies Fund launch, the conservancy was named among the twelve grantees—remarkably the youngest, at just three years old. In a fitting moment, Ntusero was also among the panelists, reflecting on the journey from vision to achievement.

The milestone also highlights the vital role of the Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association in nurturing young conservancies for sustainable growth.

Congratulations Rait Ntusero for the great achievement.

Thank you. Great milestone!

From diesel fumes to sunshine-powered hope.

Through the partnership of WWF-Kenya, the 46-year-old Nairrabala Borehole in Kikesen River Conservancy has been solarised—boosting water reliability, and reduction of conflict with wildlife in the Matapato rangelands of Kajiado Central.

Clean water now flows where scarcity once ruled for people, livestock and wildlife. Solar power has cut diesel costs.

The solarised borehole was officially handed over to the community in the presence of government officials.

The impact now reaches far and wide:
💧 5 water points within a 6 km radius
🏠 1,000+ households
🐄 5,000+ cattle
🐐 7,000 shoats
🎒 615 school pupils
🦓 Wildlife across the conservancy.

Our heartfelt thanks to WWF-Kenya, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)for making this life-changing impact possible.
