As schools reopen next week, thousands of children across Kajiado County are stepping back into classrooms to continue learning, but on empty stomachs.

For these children, education is not the only struggle, hunger sits quietly beside them in every lesson, stealing their focus, their energy, and their hope.

Our Term 2 Feeding Program is more than just a meal.

Last week, New Life Mission in partnership with the County Government of Kajiado, transformed lives in Mashuru and Magadi through a free cataract surgery program.

With 55 successful surgeries, men and women,mostly between the ages of 45 to 80 years have had their sight restored, giving them a second chance to live independently, work, and reconnect with their families.

Cataract remains one of the leading causes of preventable blindness, especially in areas like Mashuru and Magadi, due to prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight, limited access to screening, and financial barriers make this condition even more widespread and devastating.

But this mission proved one thing: Blindness does not have to be permanent.
Every support you give, it goes into transforming lives, one at a time.

New Life Mission Kenya is honored to have hosted the Shangazi team from Norway, led by Merete. The team has partnered with New Life Mission in making the lives of children living with special needs easier here in Kenya by providing food to these children, school uniform, assistive devices and emotional support.

In Mashuru, the team observed there is need to continue supporting these children to access education and interact with other children instead of being hidden in the manyattas.

In Kajiado North the team engaged with children from different schools that are being supported with the feeding program. The impact of this program is evident in the smiles these children put and their learning has now improved.

Together, this partnership has highlighted our shared commitment to ensuring every child is valued, learns and gets a hope for a better future.
