Welcome to at Oldonyo Orok!
When you’re running a community-based organization, your hands are always full and your heart is always moving forward. But sometimes, in the beautiful rush of serving others, we forget to take a step back and truly look at the seeds we've planted.
That changes this week! Starting Thursday, June 11th, 2026, we are launching Impact Thursdays!
Through the power of ethical storytelling, we are pausing to reflect on the real, raw, and life-changing impact of our work. We want to celebrate the wins, honor the communities we walk with, and remind ourselves why we started.
Because every number is a name, every statistic is a story, and every milestone is a life touched.
Join us every Thursday as we look back, feel inspired, and gear up to do even more.

9 college and university students from the Oldonyo Orok community graduated from an accelerated digital skills training program through a partnership between Computer Aid International and the Oldonyo Orok Youth CBO, as part of Computer Aid’s mission for global digital inclusion.
These graduates didn’t just walk away with new expertise; they are heading into the future fully equipped. To ensure their learning never stops, each graduate was presented with:

An official Certificate of Completion
Their very own laptopπŸ’»

In today’s world, digital literacy is a right, not a privilege. By empowering these young leaders with the tools and skills they need, we aren't just supporting nine individuals we are investing in the future of the entire Oldonyo Orok community.

Join us in sending a massive CONGRATULATIONS to the group. We can’t wait to see how you use your new skills to innovate, lead, and inspire.

πŸ’» Campus is coming. But they are not arriving empty handed.
For one week, a group of young people headed to campus made a decision that will separate them from everyone else in that lecture hall they chose to get ahead before they even arrived.

Through a powerful partnership between Oldonyo Orok Youth CBO and Computer Aid International, these ICDL students went through an accelerated digital skills training designed for one purpose. To make sure that when they walk through those campus gates, they are not starting from zero. They are starting from somewhere. 🌍
Because here is what most people don't talk about campus is competitive. And the students who thrive are not always the smartest. They are the ones who showed up prepared. The ones who already understood the digital tools that everyone else is still trying to figure out.

That is exactly who these young people are becoming.
Computer Aid International exists to drive global digital inclusion the belief that where you come from should never determine whether you have access to the digital world. And through this partnership, that belief is no longer just a mission statement. It is a lived reality for the youth of our community. πŸ’ͺ🏾
At Oldonyo Orok Youth CBO we are not waiting for opportunity to find our youth. We are building it. One training. One partnership. One young person at a time.
To every young person going to campus go knowing you are ready. 🌱

🐝"π–πž 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 π₯𝐨𝐨𝐀 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛𝐬. π–πž 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐑𝐞𝐦."
These are the words of Meshack Matipei. Chairperson of the Matapato Bee Keepers. And in a world that keeps telling young people to go out and find opportunity his words land differently.
Because he is not talking about ambition. He is talking about survival. About a generation that has knocked on enough doors to know that sometimes, you have to build your own.
That is exactly what the Matapato Bee Keepers are doing.
With 240 beehives and a vision rooted in their own community, these young people are not waiting. They are producing. They are learning. They are creating jobs where there were none turning a ancient craft into a modern lifeline for youth who refused to let unemployment write their story.

This is bigger than honey. 🍯
It is the answer to the silence that fills a young person's day when there is nowhere to go and nothing to do. The silence where drug abuse grows. The silence that climate change makes louder as traditional livelihoods fade.
Meshack and the Matapato Bee Keepers chose to fill that silence with purpose.
At Oldonyo Orok Youth CBO, this is the story we exist to stand behind young people who looked at their community and saw not a dead end, but a starting point. 🌍πŸ’ͺ🏾

This is only the beginning🌱

Empowering the next generation isn’t just about giving advice, it’s about providing the tools, skills, and capital to turn vision into reality.
In 2026, Oldonyo Orok Youth CBO is rolling out a comprehensive Capacity Building Program targeting 9 dynamic youth groups across Matapato South Ward.
The Mission
We aren’t just training; we are building an ecosystem. Our program focuses on:
β€’ Group Dynamics & Governance: Building resilient, organized institutions.
β€’ Entrepreneurship: Turning local ideas into sustainable businesses.
β€’ Digital Literacy: Bridging the tech gap for rural youth groups
β€’ Strategic Linkages: Connecting grassroots talent with global stakeholders.
To ensure these groups don't just survive but thrive, each will be allocated an Accelerator Fund specifically designed to spur income-generating activities.

Our First Partner: Great Life Youth Group
Based in the vibrant border town of Namanga, Great Life Youth Group is a powerhouse of over 200 young leaders. Their impact is already felt through:
β€’ Mentorship & Advocacy: Reaching youth in places of worship to combat drug and substance abuse.
β€’ Career Guidance: Helping the next generation navigate the professional world.
β€’ Holistic Wellness: Promoting mental health through sports and hiking.
From Vision to Venture
Capacity building is stronger when backed by assets. To kickstart their journey toward financial independence, we have supported Great Life Youth Group with a 50-seater tent and 50 chairs.
This isn't just equipment, it's a rental business. By hiring these out for local events, the group will generate a steady stream of income to fund their mentorship programs and community outreach.

When we invest in youth, we aren't just funding a project; we are fueling a movement. Stay tuned as we roll this out to the remaining 8 groups in Matapato South Ward, Kajiado County.

I didn't know what AI was. Now I do.
Picture this. A young person wakes up in Maili Tisa. No job. No clear direction. The day looks like yesterday helping at home, wondering, waiting. Not because they lacked ambition. But because nobody had yet shown them the door.

Then they walked into a room.
By the end of it, a young girl who had never heard the word AI in her life was using it. Boys and girls alike designing, micro-tasking, making posters, exploring writing each one finding what resonated with who they are and who they could become.
For the first time in a long time, the question was no longer "what will I do with my life?"
It was "which part of this do I want to pursue?"

That shift, that small, quiet, enormous shift is everything Oldonyo Orok Youth CBO exists for.
We will be honest access to computers in our community remains a real and urgent challenge. Our youth are ready. The tools are just not yet within easy reach. That is something we are actively working to change.
But today we celebrate. These young people chose to show up, to learn, and to dream bigger. That courage deserves to be seen. πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Unemployment hits differently when it’s your everyday reality.

Waking up with potential but no clear opportunity.
Trying, waiting, hoping and still feeling stuck.

But that’s not the end of the story.

Right now, young people are learning real digital skills, building confidence, and creating opportunities for themselves one step at a time.

This is more than training.
It’s a turning point for individuals, for families, for the whole community.

Take a moment and watch this is what change actually looks like.
