WingFarm participated in the launch of the 2025 Global Hunger Index – Kenya at Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel, convened by Welthungerhilfe Kenya and Concern Worldwide. The theme, “20 Years of Tracking Progress: Time to Recommit to Zero Hunger,” sparked important reflection on what must change.

During a Fishbowl discussion, Kamau Njoroge highlighted two priorities:
✅Invest more in youth-led agrifood initiatives by improving access to capital, land, and resources
✅ Ensure meaningful youth participation in policy and decision-making spaces

Achieving in Kenya is not just about production—it is about inclusion. Youth must be at the center of shaping and leading our agrifood systems.

Yesterday, WingFarm participated in the Right to Food Coalition Heads of Organizations Meeting convened by Tisa Kenya.

The meeting brought together organizational leaders to review the Coalition’s progress and deliberate on strategic priorities and plans for 2026. A key focus for the coming year is strengthening synergies among member organizations to advance the Constitutional Right to Food.

This meeting was important in fostering shared ownership, deepening partnerships, and enhancing resource mobilization efforts in support of our collective mandate.

As WingFarm, we continue to champion Youth in Agrifood Systems, recognizing that meaningful youth participation is critical in building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems. Strengthening collaboration within the Coalition creates greater opportunities for young people to contribute to policy advocacy, agroecology, and food security solutions.

On Saturday, 7 February, WingFarm trained farmers on sustainable poultry production, with a practical focus on feed formulation, housing, disease management, and farm-level biosecurity.

High feed costs and disease outbreaks remain major constraints to profitability in poultry farming. Addressing these challenges requires empowering farmers with practical, cost-effective solutions. At the same time, sustainable livestock production must prioritize food safety. Farmers should be supported to produce meat and eggs that meet public health standards and are free from unnecessary antibiotic residues.

This was not just an event, it was a space to exhibit, share, and celebrate Kenya's rich food culture. The two-day fair brought together farmers, policymakers, and civil society organizations to exchange insights on how community-led seed governance and farmer-managed systems protect biodiversity, strengthen resilience, and uphold farmers’ rights to save, share, and exchange their own seeds.

A key highlight of this year’s fair was “𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞,” emphasizing the deep connection between what we grow, what we eat, and our collective wellbeing.
