FOUNDING STORY OF IPOWER ALLIANCE

I-Power Alliance was founded by Nora, a passionate high school teacher who has long been an advocate for pastoralist girls' education. Witnessing the struggles of poor pastoralist families, Nora Wato Araro- used her resources to help girls in her school by covering fees, providing food, and distributing sanitary towels. Her efforts, along with those of six other expert women, inspired the formation of the Alliance to amplify their impact and reach more women in need.

Key Programs:

1. Education for All: Offering scholarships, mentorship, and supplies for girls who face financial barriers to accessing education.
2. Women’s Livelihood Projects: Training women in income-generating activities, including small businesses, crafts, and sustainable farming.
3. Health and Hygiene Campaigns: Providing healthcare outreach services, with a focus on reproductive health and hygiene education.
4. Climate Action Initiatives: Involving women in conservation and climate resilience projects that improve environmental sustainability in their communities.

STORY OF IPOWER I-Power Women Alliance

I-Power Alliance
(Isiolo Pastoralist Women Empowerment Alliance)

The I-Power Alliance is a grassroots initiative formed by seven expert pastoralist women in Isiolo through an indigenous Pastoralist led Conservation grassroot network Save Beisa Oryx Community Trust-SBOC to tackle the pressing issues affecting women and girls in Isiolo County, especially in marginalized areas like Ngaremara, Daaba, Burat, Oldonyiro, Kambi Garba, and Kiwanjani. Inspired by the relentless work of its founder, Norah Wato, a seasoned high school teacher, the Alliance is committed to addressing the unique challenges pastoralist women face, including poverty, education, health, and climate change resilience.
