Through its established Haki Mashinani platforms, Access to Medicines Platform will translate national GBV and femicide response efforts into grassroots action through community-led committees comprising chiefs, paralegals, religious leaders, youth, health actors, and other local champions. By leveraging trusted spaces such as barazas, churches, and community dialogues, these committees drive awareness, prevention, reporting, and access to justice directly aligning with the TWG’s call for stronger community-based action against GBV and femicide.

Gender-Based Violence and femicide remain urgent human rights concerns that demand decisive action and accountability. We are launching a new advocacy initiative in Kakamega and Vihiga Counties with support from Urgent Action Fund-Africa to accelerate county-level responses to GBV. The initiative will:
☑️Engage duty bearers to develop accountability commitments
☑️Amplify public awareness through radio dialogues in local languages
☑️Translate national GBV findings into county policy advocacy
☑️Strengthen collaboration among civil society actors to monitor progress
In essence, this project aims to transform national GBV evidence into concrete action, accountability, and justice for survivors.

Across the world, women are playing a central role in managing land and natural resources. Yet, they are often left out of the decisions that affect them. While laws are a start, the real transformation happens when we challenge the social norms that exclude women from leadership roles.

Join us as we discuss how to build collective solidarity for women on the frontlines.

There is no single solution to sexual violence. So we stopped looking for one.

Over the years, the work has been layered, not linear. It starts with knowledge. When girls understand their bodies, their rights, and what consent actually means, they are harder to mislead and harder to silence.

Then leadership. Because confidence and critical thinking change how someone responds, not just for themselves, but for others around them.

Then safe spaces. Because no one can speak, heal, or grow in an environment that isn’t safe enough to hold them.

And finally, advocacy. Because if systems don’t change, individual progress hits a ceiling.

This is what prevention actually looks like. Not a campaign. A system.

👇 What do you think is missing in how we approach this work today?

Access to Medicines Platform, through the Project SHARP, took a bold step in shaping the next generation of healthcare providers by equipping students at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) – Isiolo Campus with the knowledge and skills to deliver adolescent-responsive care. By addressing provider bias, strengthening rights-based clinical approaches, and integrating gender-based violence (GBV) response into healthcare delivery, this initiative is transforming how future frontline workers engage with young people seeking SRHR services. Grounded in the WHO Comprehensive SRHR Care Package, the intervention emphasizes ethical, respectful, and youth-friendly care laying the foundation for a more inclusive and responsive health system.
