Critital reflections from the Philanthropy Forum – Hotels Stanley, Nairobi

Today, I had the privilege of joining grassroot leaders at the Kenya Philanthropy Forum, where we explored financing, enabling, and sustaining public value for long‑term institutional resilience.

I shared ‑K CBO’s last‑mile commitment: maximizing organic waste through biogas and briquettes – a practical bioeconomy model. We discussed sustainability, social enterprise, and the power of inclusive storytelling to shift narratives from aid to investment.

Key takeaways: Policy in practice and multi‑stakeholder coordination (county, private sector, CSOs) are essential. But most critical? Resource mobilization that drives self‑reliance, moving beyond donor dependency to community‑owned, revenue‑generating climate solutions.

We challenged ourselves to keep building resilient ecosystems from the last mile up.

Week 1 Complete!
Clean Energy Entrepreneurship Program – Cohort II

What an intense, inspiring first five days at Strathmore University! I deepened our practical skills in solar design, biogas technology, electronics maintenance, and green business strategy, directly feeding into GLYN‑K’s CBO Last‑Mile Eco‑Village Lab.

Beyond the classroom, we are actively aligning partnerships at the last mile – integrating with Army (national restoration), (financial inclusion for youth in agriculture, with WEL, NCBA CLUSA, NCPWD), /GIZ/ Africa Bio-Energy Program Limited -ABPL (productive‑use biogas training), and now Global Alliance for Communities as a co‑last‑mile implementing partner, anchoring community‑led, SDG‑driven action from the village up.

Our sincere gratitude to Centre, of Energy and Petroleum (MOEP), Energy Research Centre, Energy Labs, and PACT for organising this transformative training, bringing together brilliant young clean energy entrepreneurs from across Kenya.

This coordinated, multi‑stakeholder engine (SDG 17) also includes Byestar (digester construction), State Department for Tourism - Kenya, Youth in Tourism & Conservation, Village Lab (artivism & policy shadowing), Cereal Growers Association CGA (Farmer Field Schools), and government of Homabay (Ward Development Committees). From solar irrigation to briquettes and bio‑slurry loops, we are building a replicable, circular, green‑job‑rich model.

Grateful to facilitators and fellow youth. Week 2 loading – turning knowledge into village‑level action!

Grateful for yesterday’s practical training at Kendu Bay, Homabay County!

Organised by HOYAB & Inuka Community Developers Network, with facilitators ICIPE, KALRO, and Savannah Honey. Participants from across Homa Bay learned Black Soldier Fly tech, Nyota beans, fruit farming, and VIPPT.

As GLYN‑K CBO, we anchor last‑mile integration, turning such knowledge into village‑level action. This strengthens our collective commitment to circular and bioeconomies: waste-to-feed, organic farming, and sustainable enterprises. Let’s keep building together!

Clean Energy Leadership Starts Here!

Abiero Oyugi is honoured to join the Clean Energy Entrepreneurship Program Cohort II at Strathmore University (11th–22nd May). This 10‑day training will deepen my skills in solar, biogas, and green business – directly feeding into GLYN‑K’s Eco Village Lab last‑mile model.

Abiero Oyugi is excited to share that he will be attending 2026 alongside a global community of changemakers and innovators to explore how we can reshape the future of rangelands and livelihoods

I’m looking forward to connecting with people driving change on the ground, learning from diverse perspectives, and being part of real, grounded solutions that centre communities and resilience.

Join me on 6–7 May, and let’s explore the future of landscapes together!

What an incredible high level day at KICC Kenya, Nairobi! Young Kenyans from diverse backgrounds gathered to storytell and co-create the future of eco-tourism and conservation. Through powerful narratives, we bridged grassroots voices with national strategy, tackling how youth eco-friendly programming can unlock 5 million untapped tourists.

The energy was electric. Now, the real work is to translate key proposals into last-mile programming reaching villages.

Grateful to State Department for Tourism - Kenya and Youth in Tourism & Conservation for convening us, Green Land Youth Network-Kenya we have driven SDG17 partnerships in action. Let's build together!

Green Land Youth Network Kenya at the Global Alliance for Communities regional convergence, uniting Lake Victoria, Nairobi, and Coastal/ASALs leadership. We prioritized last-mile integration, elected regional leaders, and formed thematic working groups to align grassroots co-creation with meaningful impact. This advances our SDG 17 commitment, directly strengthening our Village-First Climate Lab work. Together, we converge.
