URGENT: The Impact of the USAID Funding Freeze on ARVs and people being forced to go on an unpaid leave for 3months.

The recent freeze on USAID funding has disrupted the distribution of antiretroviral medications (ARVs), leaving many people living with HIV (PLHIV) feeling scared, anxious, and uncertain about the future.

But let’s be clear: We are stronger than this challenge, and we will get through it together.

To my PLHIV family:
✨ You are not alone.
✨ Your life matters.
✨ This crisis does NOT define us.

The closure of health facilities is putting our communities at risk. If ARVs run out, what happens next? Are we ready to deal with the new infections and reinfections?
Thinking out loud.

And yet, as always, our government remains silent.
We need action, not silence. Our lives are on the line.So many people have lost their jobs because of this crisis. It’s heartbreaking.

Beyond the disruption of ARV distribution, entire livelihoods have been shattered. Healthcare workers, community outreach teams, and countless others who dedicated their lives to supporting PLHIV are now struggling to survive.
This isn’t just about medication—it’s about people, families, and futures being thrown into uncertainty.

How much more do we have to endure before real action is taken?

Vertical transmission.
Prenatal transmission is when hiv is passed from a woman to their child during pregnancy,child birth (labor and delivery) or during breastfeeding through milk or blood.

A woman living with hiv should EXCLUSIVELY breastfeed for at least for at least six months then She can proceed with the breastfeeding and introduce appropriate complementary feeding for up to 12 months or 24 months .
The mother and the baby MUST be under care through this period and the mother must be virally suppressed.
