Haki Ni Yetu Community of Practice engagement I Kisumu

Earlier last week, Abenengo for Development Organization was ably represented by the Team Lead and the CYDG member in a community of practice engagement that brought together Haki Ni Yetu grantees to share, learn and exchange experiences, new knowledge and best practice. We had a chance to learn and network with grantees from Busia, Siaya, Kakamega, Bungoma and Migori counties.

NYC Elections I Aspirants Awareness Creation Caucus I Samia subcounty

Courtesy of Siasa Place, today, we held an insightful awareness meeting with the youth aspirants from the 4 wards in Samia for the upcoming NYC elections.

Evidently, more youth including aspirants have no sufficient information about the upcoming elections. Matters how to register as an aspirant, voters registration process and whether the elections would be physical or online came out as key concerns. The low interest to contest from the youth especially female youth and PWD youth was a concern.

The non-responsiveness of the Samia youth office to the youths concerns was equally pointed out.

Through our guide, we shared critical information to the youth as they prepare to register, campaign and being voted to serve fellow youth.

A strong democracy depends on the effective functioning of the three arms of government: the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. The Executive implements laws and policies, the Legislature makes laws and provides oversight, while the Judiciary interprets laws and ensures justice is upheld.

These institutions are interdependent and provide checks and balances on each other, preventing abuse of power and protecting citizens' rights. Without any one of them, democracy would be weakened, accountability would suffer, and the rule of law could be compromised. Strong institutions are the foundation of good governance and democratic development.
