𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚆𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗'𝚜 𝙻𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚑𝚒𝚙 𝚒𝚗 𝙵𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚍𝚘𝚖 𝚘𝚏 𝚁𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚐𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚘𝚛 𝙱𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚎𝚏 (𝙵𝚘𝚁𝙱)

From 3rd - 7th August 2026, Badili Tana Initiative (BTI) participated in the 4-Day Residential Capacity Building Training on Women and FoRB at CORAT Africa, Nairobi, supported by the Danish Minorities Center for Human Rights & Development.

Representing BTI were Racheal Benjamin (Administration and Programs Officer) and Ethan Amuma Kinoga Junior (Communications Officer), who joined partners from Kenya, Zambia, Denmark and Italy in a learning process focused on strengthening gender-responsive FoRB programming and women’s leadership.

Key highlights included:

🔹 Sharing experiences and best practices on FoRB programming
🔹 Exploring links between human rights, gender equality, and FoRB
🔹 Learning Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Analysis tools
🔹 Developing practical strategies to include women’s voices in FoRB work

A key moment was the Eastleigh Field Visit, where participants engaged directly with the community, gaining real insights into lived FoRB experiences and inclusive programming needs.
The training ended with action planning, proposal refinement, and peer feedback to strengthen women-centred FoRB initiatives.

At Badili Tana Initiative, we believe women must be active leaders in peacebuilding, not just participants.

We appreciate Danish Minorities Center for Human Rights & Development, facilitators, and partners for the opportunity. The knowledge gained will strengthen our work in peacebuilding, human rights, gender equality, and in Tana River County and beyond.

Together, we learn. Together, we lead. Together, we build more inclusive communities.

Leo tuko Garsen Centre 2 pamoja na Badili Tana Initiative

Kwa miaka mingi, mchezo wa Sadeka umekuwa zaidi ya mchezo. Umekuwa mahali pa wazee kukutana, kusalimiana, kushauriana na kuendeleza hekima iliyojenga jamii ya Tana River kwa vizazi.

Leo, kupitia 𝐊𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐮 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬, tunaheshimu utamaduni huu kwa kuunganisha mashindano ya Sadeka na mazungumzo kuhusu amani, mshikamano na mustakabali wa jamii yetu.

Kwa sababu amani haijengwi kwenye mikutano pekee. Hujengwa pale watu wanapokutana, wanaposikilizana na wanapothaminiana.

The launch of the Dr. Amani Komora Peace Tournament by Amani Yuda Komora was marked not only by a competitive matches and powerful peace dialogues with youth and the community, but also by a tree planting session with partners, teams, and community members. This moment reflected our shared commitment to peace, unity, environmental restoration, and community responsibility.

Beyond nurturing talent, sport provides a unique space for dialogue, especially in contexts where negative narratives such as “us vs them” can easily divide communities. Through these conversations, we continue to create opportunities for understanding, cohesion, and long-term peace.

Young people are not just participants in peace and security matters, they are key stakeholders whose voices and initiatives, when included, help build sustainable peace and development.
