Community Actions for in Garsen West Ward

We joined hands in a powerful community dialogue under the Together for Religious Freedom (ToFoRB) project, supported by Search for Common Ground Kenya. The dialogue brought together FoRB Youth champions, community members, and religious leaders with a shared commitment to promoting understanding, respect, and peaceful coexistence across religious lines.

As a joint community action for FoRB, we visited Garsen Comprehensive and Success Academy to take practical steps toward building religious tolerance in our communities and schools, where young people can grow up learning the values of dialogue, acceptance, and mutual respect.

Together, we can nurture peace, embrace diversity, and create safer spaces for everyone to live, learn, and thrive.

Youth SDGs Week 2026 – April 20–24th
“Bridging the Gap: Youth-Led Solutions for SDGs Acceleration.”

It was a week of bold ideas, meaningful conversations, insightful panel discussions, and presentations toward collaborations shaping a sustainable future.
We are proud, as Badili Tana Initiative, to be in these important spaces, contributing to youth-led solutions and engaging with partners committed to accelerating the SDGs. On the final day, we handed over recommendations to the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, IGAD Youth Envoy, and were presented at the African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD). We are not just speaking about change; we are driving it.
🤝 Let's collaborate and co-create to build the momentum towards the 2030 Agenda.

Prosperity for whom?

You studied hard, followed the rules, got the degree but still struggle to pay rent or save for the future.

Today at Youth SDGs Week, we are asking the tough questions:

Why does economic growth often leave the youth behind?
Why is decent work still hard to come by?

Its time to demand better. Come lets talk solutions.

Badili Tana Initiative participated in a two-day Advocacy Workshop to facilitate Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) consultations, part of a multi-country effort across seven nations. In Kenya, the work is led by Women Volunteers For Peace -WOVOP and Badili Tana Initiative under the Youth Serving Organizations, with support from Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding Interpeace and Cordaid.

The workshop created a vibrant cross-country exchange where youth-led organizations across seven countries shared their findings from the YPS Consultations for Big Impact Project. Participants blended technical expertise with lived experience to build connection on collaborative ways to advance YPS globally.

Key moments:

Comprehensive country findings sharing, highlighting each country's outcome and methodology.
Developing advocacy strategies and stakeholder mapping for the YPS agenda in the local, national and global contexts.
Peer-to-peer learning that bridges consultation and implementation, keeping momentum alive.

As an Organization we are committed to empower young people to be in charge of their own processes.

In a time marked by violence, intolerance, stereotypes, and misinformation that threaten Freedom of Religion or Belief globally, we continue to champion constructive within our communities.

We convened religious leaders, FoRB champions, state actors, non-state actors, and local leaders for a meaningful dialogue focused on strengthening mutual understanding and coexistence in Garsen North Ward.
The dialogue created a safe space for honest conversations, built trust among of different faiths, countered harmful stereotypes, and reinforced our shared values of dignity, respect, and unity.

Participants listened to one another with the goal of strengthening relationships and fostering more inclusive communities.
Promoting understanding and safeguarding FoRB for all is everyone’s responsibility.

This project is implemented by Badili Tana Initiative and Danish Minorities Center for Human Rights & Development, funded by CKU.

YPS CONSULTATIONS FOR BIG IMPACT
Badili Tana Initiative at Minjila, Tana River for impactful Youth Peace and Security (YPS) Consultations, creating a meaningful platform for young people to engage on peace, security, governance, and community development.
The project was implemented by Badili Tana Initiative and Women Volunteers For Peace -WOVOP through Youth Serving Organizations Consortium, supported by Cordaid, Interpeace, and Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding.

The Engagement Forum provided a safe and inclusive space where young people shared their lived experiences and highlighted key gaps they continue to face, including limited youth representation in decision-making and peace structures, inadequate inclusion in early warning and conflict prevention mechanisms, and vulnerability to political manipulation, violence, and marginalization.

Beyond contributing to strengthen the Youth Peace and Security National Action Plan (YPS NAP), the consultations also focused to advise practical next steps needed to support and build the capacity of youth in rural areas.
