Last week, we were honored to host Tony Riccardi, WASH Partner and Technology Manager at Wine To Water. His visit was a testament to the partnership we have built over the years.
Our partnership with Wine-to-Water began three years ago with the donation of Sawyer water filters, which were distributed to schools and selected households in the Seka community. We are proud to share that the households that received these filters continue to use them to this day.
As a result, we have observed improved sanitation at the household level, with families now having reliable access to clean and safe drinking water. These households include children and adults of varying ages, with the largest household supporting six children and our oldest beneficiary in her 90s. Over the years, households have demonstrated strong ownership by properly managing the filters, and consistently following cleaning procedures. Our team has been on standby to assist as needed.
Tony’s recent visit also included a donation of 15 additional water filters, which we look forward to distributing to the community over the holidays and into the new year. Beyond distribution, recipient households will participate in water, sanitation, and hygiene training, as well as hands-on instruction on the proper use and maintenance of the filters.
Reflecting on the progress achieved over the past three years, we are hopeful that these additional filters will extend access to clean and safe water to more households, improve health outcomes especially for children and further strengthen community wellbeing.
