Honored to have supported the pre-activity engagements leading up to this year’s Menstrual Hygiene Management Day, under the theme “Together for a .” 💜

At Jenga AfriHub, we continue to champion menstrual dignity, health education, and safe spaces for adolescent girls and young people in our communities. We recognize that menstrual health is not only a health issue, but also deeply connected to education, protection, confidence, and opportunity for girls.

This outreach builds on our continued efforts, including our recent Back-to-School campaign that supported over 700 girls to remain in school through dignity packs and menstrual health support. Through mentorship, community engagement, and partnerships, we are committed to ensuring that no girl is left behind because of period poverty or lack of information.

We are proud to stand alongside the Department of Health and Sanitation and fellow partners in creating informed, supportive, and period-friendly communities while contributing towards reducing teenage pregnancies and improving adolescent wellbeing.

Special appreciation to the County MHM Coordinator.

As part of our mentorship program for young people in schools, we had the privilege over the past two days to visit Katakwa for an impactful mentorship session with the Form Four class.

The discussions focused on exam preparation, campus transition, and career alignment — equipping students with knowledge, motivation, and confidence for the next stage of their journey. The sessions were highly engaging, interactive, and inspiring, with students openly sharing their thoughts, challenges, and aspirations for the future.

Being a local school, many students are often limited by their environment, exposure, and access to opportunities. Through such engagements, we continue creating spaces that encourage young people to dream beyond their circumstances, believe in their potential, and confidently pursue opportunities available to them.

We sincerely appreciate the Guidance and Counseling Department of Katakwa Secondary School for the warm invitation, partnership, and commitment to mentoring young people. Together, we continue shaping a generation that is focused, informed, and ready to lead.

Yesterday, we convened over 40 young people between the ages of 18–35 for a youth engagement session led by a team from East Africa
as part of the Wasemavyo Vijana (What Youth Say) study.
We are happy to be among the organizations identified to support this important regional study and to contribute grassroots perspectives, community insights, and youth realities that can help shape more responsive systems, policies, and action for young people across East Africa.

The broader study process also engaged over 30 adults above 35 years through separate conversations and key informant interviews exploring the realities young people are navigating today from access to opportunities and participation spaces, to systemic barriers affecting their growth, voice, and well-being.

What stood out for us is the power of research that intentionally listens to young people at the grassroots and values their lived experiences as critical evidence for change.
When young people are meaningfully engaged, and when organizations working closely with communities contribute practical insights and recommendations, such studies have the potential to influence stronger policies, more responsive systems, and action that truly reflects the realities young people face every day.

We remain committed to creating spaces where youth voices inform conversations, influence action, and contribute to community transformation.

Yesterday, we participated in the Heads of Departments (HODs) and Non-State Actors Meeting on Service Delivery convened by the DCC, Teso North Sub-County.

The meeting brought together both state and non-state actors to share departmental progress, ongoing interventions, and opportunities for collaboration towards strengthened service delivery and community wellbeing.

We were also honored to share about the work we are doing with adolescents and young people across areas including youth engagement, digital safety, SRHR advocacy, leadership, and community empowerment.

Spaces like these are important in fostering partnerships, coordination, and collective action especially during such a critical season for our country.

Grateful for the opportunity to engage, contribute, and connect with other stakeholders committed to community impact.

The last edition of was a powerful reminder that young people are not just paying attention, they are ready to engage, question, and lead.

Under the conversation, we convened over 45 young people for an honest and insightful dialogue on voter registration, civic responsibility, and what meaningful participation truly looks like.

What stood out most was that many of the young people in the room had already registered. This speaks volumes. It reflects a growing wave of youth who want to be counted, who understand the importance of showing up, and who are choosing to be part of shaping the future.

But beyond registration, our conversation challenged us to reflect on the bigger question: Why does it matter?

Together, we unpacked the voter registration process, explored key civic concepts, and had meaningful conversations around accountability, representation, and the role young people play in influencing the decisions that shape our communities.

The real takeaway from this dialogue is that while the movement is gaining momentum, the bigger task is sustaining this energy beyond the moment, ensuring young people remain informed, engaged, and active long after registration.

The conversation continues, stay with us.

Today, we celebrate the power of media as a catalyst for community impact.

We are deeply grateful to Citizen TV for amplifying the work we do and shining a light on the urgent conversations affecting adolescents and young people in our communities.

At Jenga Afrihub, we believe that meaningful change happens when grassroots voices are heard, when local realities are brought to the forefront, and when platforms with influence choose to spotlight stories that matter.

Media plays a critical role in shaping dialogue, driving awareness, and connecting communities to action. Through partnerships like these, we are able to extend the reach of our advocacy and strengthen collective efforts toward healthier, safer, and more empowered futures for young people.

Thank you for using your platform to amplify purpose-driven work and for standing with community-led change.

703 adolescents reached.
An initial target of adolescents girls surpassed.
6+ partners united around one shared commitment.

What began as a Back-to-School campaign quickly became a clear reminder of something bigger: the need is real, the demand is urgent, and when communities come together, meaningful change happens.

Behind every number is a learner supported, dignity restored, confidence strengthened, and a future kept on track.

This impact report captures what was possible through collective action — and why the work to ensure adolescents stay in school must continue.

These moments capture what this campaign was truly about: keeping adolescents in school.

By raising our voices for SRHR, saying no to teenage pregnancy, and providing dignity kits that support menstrual health, we were addressing some of the real barriers that interrupt learning and push many girls out of the classroom.

Because staying in school is about more than being present, it is about having the knowledge, confidence, support, and dignity to show up fully every single day.

Long after the back-to-school campaign, the message remains clear: when adolescents are equipped with the right information and resources, they are better positioned to stay in school, pursue their dreams, and shape their own futures. 💜

For a long time, many adolescents have been considered “too young” to engage in conversations around their health.

But during our back-to-school campaign, we saw the urgency of doing things differently.

With the support of the of Health, adolescents in Amagoro and Angurai accessed accurate, age-appropriate health education, engaged in open conversations, and received essential services including screening and on-site support.

These were not just sessions they were safe spaces where girls could ask questions, understand their bodies, and begin to make informed decisions early.

For many, this was their first time accessing such services not because they didn’t need them, but because they had never been made accessible.

Because the right time for health awareness is not later it is now.

We extend sincere appreciation to the County Government and the Ministry of Health for their leadership and coordination, particularly in integrating health education and services within the campaign. This included adolescent-focused health messaging, access to basic health services, and referrals where needed—ensuring that health barriers to education were directly addressed alongside school support.

This level of collaboration demonstrates the importance of linking education outcomes with health systems to better respond to the realities faced by adolescents.

We are proud to have contributed to this joint effort and remain committed to strengthening such integrated approaches that keep adolescents in school and improve their overall wellbeing.
