π„π―πžπ«π² 𝐟𝐒𝐧𝐒𝐬𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐞π₯π₯𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲.

Just a few weeks ago, many of these young people had never sat behind a sewing machine. Today, they are confidently designing, cutting, and stitching their own clothes with pride.

This journey has not been easy. Many of our trainees come from vulnerable backgrounds, including young mothers and unemployed youth who simply needed an opportunity to learn a practical skill. Their commitment, resilience, and determination inspire us every day.

We believe that when you equip someone with a skill, you give them the power to build a better future for themselves, their families, and their community.

We are proud of how far our students have come, and this is only the beginning. We look forward to seeing them become skilled tailors, entrepreneurs, and job creators.

Congratulations to our trainees, your hard work is paying off, and we can't wait to see what you'll create next!

We had the pleasure of hosting the Digiken team at The Enlightened Community Based Organization (CBO) for a visit to our demo farm and tailoring training center.

It was a great opportunity to showcase our community-driven initiatives in agroecology, organic farming, vocational skills development, and sustainable livelihoods.

The team explored our practical farming approaches, including organic vegetable production, kitchen gardens, composting, and our efforts to promote food security within the community. They also visited our tailoring training program, where youth and women are gaining skills in tailoring and reusable sanitary pad production.

We appreciate the engagement, interest, and knowledge sharing, and we look forward to more opportunities for collaboration as we continue empowering communities through practical solutions and sustainable skills.

We had a very insightful and inspiring learning visit to SOFDI together with members from Nyatigo Tara CBO from Kisumu County.
The visit provided us with an excellent opportunity to experience practical organic farming and agroecological practices that can easily be replicated within our own farms and communities. We learned about sustainable food production methods, soil health management, compost making, kitchen gardening, integrated farming systems, and environmentally friendly approaches that promote food security while conserving nature.
It was encouraging to see how practical community-driven solutions can transform livelihoods and strengthen resilience among small-scale farmers. As The Enlightened Community Based Organization, we are excited to apply some of the lessons learned at our demo farm and continue training our community members on sustainable and climate-smart farming practices.
We believe such knowledge exchange visits are important in building stronger partnerships, improving local farming systems, and empowering communities with practical solutions that improve nutrition, income, and environmental conservation.

We continued promoting practical organic farming solutions by constructing a conical garden using locally available bricks and materials.

At the center of the garden, we installed a compost column that will continuously provide nutrients to the crops using organic waste materials from the household and farm. This simple but effective agroecological approach helps improve soil fertility, conserve water, recycle organic waste, and support healthy crop production naturally without harmful chemicals.

Through such innovations, we are empowering communities with affordable and sustainable farming methods that can easily be replicated at household level to improve food security and nutrition.

We remain committed to promoting organic farming and agroecology as key solutions for healthier communities and environmental sustainability.

We are truly grateful to all the farmers, youth, women, community members, partners, and friends who took their time to join us for this important and impactful day. Your enthusiasm, participation, and willingness to learn made the event a great success.

Today’s Demo Farm Open Day was a great success!

We had the privilege of hosting over 50 farmers and community members who were eager to learn practical skills on sustainable and organic farming at our demo farm. Participants engaged in hands-on sessions covering kitchen gardening, organic vegetable production, compost making, and climate-smart farming practices.

As part of our follow-up support, the Enlightened team will be visiting participants in the coming week to help them establish kitchen gardens in their own homes. Our goal is to ensure that what is learned at the demo farm is practically applied within the community.

Through these home kitchen gardens, families will have easier access to fresh and healthy vegetables, improving both food security and nutrition. In addition, households will reduce the cost of buying vegetables, allowing them to use the saved income to address other important family needs.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and supported this initiative as we continue empowering communities through practical knowledge and sustainable solutions.
