A new chapter in youth empowerment and digital transformation was marked at Akukuranut Development Trust in Teso South Sub-County, Busia County.

Under the UK EDACR program, youth, including Persons Living With Disabilities, joined intensive bootcamps on AI literacy, online work, digital content creation, agritech, and IT maintenance. Training was delivered by Otermans Institute, led by Aditya Dave, in partnership with Kilimo Hakika.
We thank the UK Government through Charles Juma and the County Government of Busia for the opportunity to serve our youth. Our community is rising, unlocking opportunities and shaping the future.

Inclusive Digital Futures (IDF) program was officially launched by the County Government of Busia. We are set to go!
The main Goal and purpose of the program is to increase digital employment and entrepreneurship among young people (majority women and PWDs) contributing to a decline in youth engagement in harmful coping mechanisms by June 2026.

ADT, as a downstream partner in the UK Government–supported Digital Access Programme (DAP), implemented in partnership with the County Government of Busia, convened a Community Digital Champions (CDCs) meeting across Matayos Sub-County, the fourth sub-county visited under Phase II of the program.

The purpose of the meeting was to orient CDCs on Phase II of the program, titled “Inclusive Digital Future,” which seeks to expand equitable access to digital skills, services, and opportunities at the community level.

The event brought together key stakeholders and leaders, including H.E. the Deputy Governor of Busia County, Papa Arthur Odera, the British DAP Lead, Mr. Charles, the Busia County Director of Youth, Judiciary ICT Director, Busia County ICT Director, community leaders, and Community Digital Champions.

Phase II focuses on strengthening community-led digital inclusion, empowering local champions, creating employment opportunities, and ensuring that digital transformation reaches underserved populations, particularly the youth, across Busia County.

ADT, as a downstream partner in the UK Government–supported Digital Access Program (DAP) implemented in partnership with the County Government of Busia, has convened Community Digital Champions meetings across Teso South and Nambale Sub County this week and Teso North, and Matayos Sub-Counties will also be done next week.

The meetings mark the official launch of Phase II of the program, titled “Inclusive Digital Future,” which aims to expand equitable access to digital skills, services, and opportunities at the community level.
The events brought together key stakeholders and leaders, including H.E. the Deputy Governor of Busia County, Papa Arthur Odera, the British DAP Lead, Mr. Charles, county officials, community leaders, and Digital Champions.
Phase II focuses on strengthening community-led digital inclusion, empowering local champions, create employment and ensuring that digital transformation reaches underserved populations [the youth]across Busia County.

Today, we had the great honor of hosting the World Neighbors team from Malawi, Uganda, and Tanzania. Their visit was both inspiring and encouraging as they came to learn and witness firsthand how we have been running our programs. We took them through the different initiatives we are implementing, with a special focus on our sustainability programs that are designed to empower communities, strengthen livelihoods, and ensure long-term impact.

It was a moment of pride to showcase the strides we have made—how our communities are taking ownership, how skills transfer is creating resilience, and how our sustainability models are offering lessons that can be replicated beyond our borders. The exchange of ideas and experiences from our brothers and sisters across the region enriched the day, reminding us that development is stronger when we walk together, share knowledge, and support one another.

This visit reaffirmed our commitment to keep building programs that not only address today’s challenges but also prepare communities for a better tomorrow. 🌍✨
