The Philippine Festival in Tokyo — Organized by the Community, for the Communities
Also known as the Philippine Christmas Festival, is recognized as the oldest and largest continuing Filipino festival in Japan, having celebrated its 28th edition.
History
Established in the 1990s, the festival was launched by the Philippine Assistance Group (PAG) together with the Filipino community in Japan. It was created to preserve and promote Filipino culture, strengthen community bonds among overseas Filipinos, and foster friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Japan.
Purpose and Significance
The festival serves as a vibrant gathering that showcases:
Filipino culture, traditions, and heritage
Music, dance, and cultural performances
Filipino cuisine and local products
Community engagement and fellowship
The enduring friendship between the Philippines and Japan
For decades, the festival has remained a symbol of unity, celebrating the contributions of Filipinos in Japan while bringing together families, organizations, businesses, and supporters from diverse communities.
"Organized by the community, for the communities" remains at the heart of the festival's mission—creating a welcoming space where culture, friendship, and shared heritage continue to thrive across generations.
