Last night, we celebrated the culmination of months of hard work, learning, teamwork, and perseverance at our Awards Ceremony. While special congratulations go to our winning teams for their outstanding achievements, we would like to recognize every participant who completed the program.

Developing a business plan, mastering new concepts, collaborating with teammates from diverse backgrounds, and presenting to a panel of judges is no small feat. Each participant should be proud of what they have accomplished.

A heartfelt thank you to our lecturers, mentors, consultants, judges, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who make this program possible.

Congratulations once again to all participants, and we look forward to seeing where your future successes will take you!

ICCJ Seminar: Wars, Energy Crisis and New Technology. Where is Japan Heading in a Multipolar World?

About the Seminar

The global landscape is shifting: geopolitical tensions, energy disruptions, rising costs, and the rapid advance of AI are redefining how businesses operate in and with Japan. For companies navigating this new environment, understanding where Japan is heading (and what it takes to lead effectively on the ground) is no longer optional.

In this seminar, two seasoned experts offer complementary perspectives on Japan's evolving position in a multipolar world.

Dr. Martin Schulz, Chief Economist at Fujitsu Ltd., will examine the macro forces reshaping Japan's business environment, from geopolitics and energy shocks to AI-driven growth, and what they mean for foreign companies operating in Asia.

Dr. Laura Bonamici, global marketing and transformation leader and former SVP & Global Head of Marketing at Fujitsu, will then bring the conversation inside the organization, exploring what it actually means to lead transformation in Japan today, navigating the tensions between speed and stability, global ambition and local reality.

Speakers

Dr. Martin Schulz is Chief Economist at Fujitsu Ltd. in Tokyo. Widely quoted on CNBC, Bloomberg, and NHK World, he advises the Japanese Cabinet Office on digital and sustainable transformation and teaches at the Mercator School of Management.

Dr. Laura Bonamici is a global marketing and transformation leader. As former SVP & Global Head of Marketing at Fujitsu, she led the company's global marketing transformation from Tokyo over four years. She began her career at Goldman Sachs in London and holds a PhD from Royal Holloway, University of London.

JMEC Team 5 'Giving Roots' is developing a business plan for Refugee Empowerment International (REI), a Japan-based non-profit organization that supports refugee empowerment through education, vocational training, and community‑building initiatives. Team 5 kindly asks for your help with two short activities to help them validate their research and campaign ideas:

A. Survey for Foreign Residents in Japan
We are conducting a short survey to better understand how foreign residents in Japan engage with non-profit initiatives and community activities:
