2011年3月11日 東日本大震災が発生しました。
私たちが絵本を保管・仕分けしていた事務所は津波があった場所です。
事務所は宮城県仙台市港の展示会会場「夢メッ
セみやぎ」にありました。

多くの犠牲者を目の当たりにし、暗く落ち込む子どもたちを見て、何かをしなければ！
そこで、発足したのが【子どもたちへ、絵本で笑顔を！】プロジェクトです。
The disaster has had a tremendous impact on children here, too. Being forced to face the overwhelming tragedies, many of the young children are suffering from anxiety and depression. Our project, “Books and Smiles to Kids”, started with the wish of bringing the smiles back to them.
思い出いっぱいで捨てれずに眠っている大切な絵本を、被災地の子どもたちにお送りください。
津波で流された保育園・幼稚園・避難所の子どもたちから優先して贈っています。
Please send us your cherished picture books, that once brought you joy and laughter. We will deliver them to the children in the afflicted areas. We will begin with the children whose pre-schools and kindergartens are destroyed by the tsunami, and those who are now living in the shelters.
まだまだ支援が必要な大勢の方達がいます。
私たちは、被災者同士が相互に必要な支援をし合う中でスタートした民間の小さなプロジェクトです。
自らが被災者で、「現地にいるからこそできること」で貢献したい。
だから、「必要な物を」、「必要な地域に」、「きめ細かく」届ける活動を行なっております。
There are still thousands of people who need the supports from people around the world. Our project is small-scale, being launched by the local people who have suffered themselves. However, being victims ourselves, we know what is necessary and which areas are in need of help. We know the landscape well, so are able to reach small villages or forgotten areas.
また、お配りする運送費等を集める必要があります。
チャリティグッズの制作、募金活動、配布ボランティア、仕分けボランティアを募集しています。

一人でも多くの子どもに、今、必要な支援物資を、早く、たくさん届けたい。

We are also calling for donations, for the transportation expenses, and volunteers who can help us make charity goods, collect money, and distribute and sort out the books. Please help us make the posters, brochure, and web site. Please spread our activities through your web log or twitter. Children need support, right now. PLEASE HELP US HELP THEM.
