On Saturday, March 28, 2026, members of the Navy League of the US-Sasebo Council kicked off the season by hosting a wonderful Sakura viewing event for the military families of the CFAS community! 🇺🇸🇯🇵

While the cherry blossoms were not yet in full bloom, we couldn't have asked for a better weather; thank you, Lord!!! 😎☀️Families gathered to enjoy delicious free hotdogs and hamburgers, accompanied by fun/games (bingo!)and great prizes.

Thank you to everyone who came out to welcome spring and strengthen our community bonds.

After six months at sea, USS San Diego (LPD 22), led by Captain Timothy Carter, Commander Osei Asante, and Command Master Chief Aaron Wimberly, returned to Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo, Japan, on November 7, 2025. The NLUS Sasebo Council was honored to participate in the Homecoming celebration alongside the MWR Sasebo Japan, USO Sasebo, American Red Cross Sasebo, Fleet & Family Support Center Sasebo, Japan, and the Navy Exchange Sasebo in welcoming home the Sailors and Marines who served. Their dedication, professionalism, and teamwork reflect credit upon themselves and our community.

To the spouses and children who supported the crew from home, we thank you for your strength and support. The homecoming celebration belongs to all of you as well.

On Friday, October 17, 2025, Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo Japan hosted a training session for 30 Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Camp Kurume Command Sergeant Major Course students. The visit highlighted CFAS’s mission, afloat units, and tenant commands, which strengthened the partnership and understanding between U.S. and Japanese forces.
CMDCM (SW) Alan Benavidez coordinated the event and led the discussion sessions.
