NEPAのメンバー、活動にご協力・ご支援ご協力いただいている皆さまへ
NEPAを代表して、心から追悼の言葉を申し上げます。今日、4月25日(2015年)は、ネパールで大きな地震があった日です。多くのかけがえのない命が失われ、ネパール、そしてカトマンズに大きな被害をもたらしたネパール大地震から、10年という月日が経ちました。大切なご家族やご親族、ご友人を亡くされた皆さまのお気持ちを思うと、今も胸が痛み、深い悲しみに心が締めつけられる思いです。改めまして、心よりご冥福をお祈り申し上げます。そして、被災されたすべての方々にも、心からお見舞い申し上げます。
震災から10年が経ち、被災地では多くの方々のたゆまぬ努力によって、復興が着実に進んできました。復興だけでなく、次に起こりうる災害への備えとして、防災や減災への取り組みも、さまざまな立場の方々が知恵を出し合いながら進められています。
震災で失われた大切な命と、そのときに得られた教訓を、私たちは決して忘れてはなりません。10年という時間が経つ中で、当時の被害の大きさや、人々がどのように支え合いながら困難を乗り越えてきたかという記憶が、少しずつ薄れてしまってはいないでしょうか。だからこそ、これからも起こりうるさまざまな災害に備え、自分や大切な人の命を守る努力を続けていくことが、私たちの大切な役目だと思います。あのときの経験や学びを、世界に広げ、次の世代へと伝えていくために、私たち一人ひとりができることから始めていかれることと願っています。
最後に、犠牲となられた方々のご冥福をあらためて心よりお祈り申し上げるとともに、ご遺族の皆さまのご平安をお祈りし、私のご挨拶とさせていただきます。

Dear all NEPA members and those who cooperate with and support our activities:
On behalf of NEPA, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences.
Ten years have passed since the Nepal Earthquake, which claimed countless irreplaceable lives and brought immense devastation to Nepal, particularly Kathmandu.
Even now, my heart aches when I think of those who lost their beloved family members, relatives, and friends. I offer my deepest prayers for the souls of the departed, and I sincerely extend my sympathies to all those who were affected by the disaster.
Over the past ten years, steady progress has been made in the recovery of the affected areas, thanks to the tireless efforts of many individuals. In addition to reconstruction, efforts to prepare for and mitigate future disasters have also been actively pursued, with people from various sectors coming together and sharing their wisdom.
We must never forget the precious lives lost in the earthquake and the important lessons learned during that time. As time goes by, have we perhaps started to lose sight of the enormity of the disaster and the ways in which people supported one another through the hardship? Precisely because of this, it is our vital responsibility to continue striving to protect our own lives and those of our loved ones, and to prepare for the disasters that may come.
I sincerely hope that each of us can begin by doing what we can—sharing the experiences and lessons from that time with the world and passing them on to the next generation.
In closing, I once again offer my heartfelt prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives, and I pray for the peace and well-being of their bereaved families.
