We were honored to be there as a resource for military spouses here in Okinawa at the Behind the Camouflage: An MCA Initiative Spouse Summit! 💙

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with spouses, share what Oki Orators Toastmasters has to offer, and introduce a supportive space where military spouses can build confidence, communication skills, leadership experience, and community.

Thank you Behind the Camouflage: An MCA Initiative, for creating another meaningful event for the military spouse community in Okinawa and for allowing organizations like ours to connect and serve.

We’re grateful to have been part of it!

Meet Fumie Saito

We’re kicking off our new series, "Member Spotlight," sharing raw and inspiring stories from our club members! First up: Fumie!

Q1: What brought you to Oki Orators?
During the pandemic, I saw an Open House announcement on Facebook. Watching Japanese members speak so confidently inspired me to join.

Q2: Your biggest "oops!" moment?
In a recent speech, my mind went completely blank and I had to rely on my cue cards. It totally cooled the room down—something I'm determined to fix!

Q3: Biggest change in yourself?
I’ve gained the confidence to speak English publicly and now jump at new challenges without hesitation.

Q1: Oki Orators入会のきっかけは？
コロナ禍にFacebookで見かけた見学会がきっかけです。日本人メンバーが堂々とスピーチする姿に憧れて入会を決めました。

Q2: 一番の「やらかし」は？
最近のスピーチで頭が真っ白になり、カンペに頼りきりになったことです。会場の空気が冷めるのを痛感したので、今度こそ克服します！

Q3: 一番変わったところは？
人前で英語を話す度胸がつき、新しい挑戦にも迷わず手を挙げられるようになりました。
