岐阜淡墨ロータリークラブの紹介
バ ナ ー の 由 来
テリトリー内の林野面積は、総面積の約80％弱に当たりますので、バナーの地色はそれを反映して鮮やかなグリーン色と致しました。
淡墨桜は、桜の全品種300余りのうち彼岸桜の一種で名花中の上位にあります。蕾のときは薄紅色で気品に富み、開花すれば単弁素朴で清純そのものです。満開に至っては白色艶麗で見る人の目を輝かせ、花弁がまさに枝を辞するに際しては特異の淡墨色を帯びてまいります。

国指定天然記念物 根尾谷淡墨桜
１．指定年月日 大正11年10月12日
２．指定の理由 花の代表的巨樹
３．説 明 この桜は彼岸桜の一種（和名ウバヒガン）で、樹齢が高く（地元では1,500年と称している）枝の各所が折損して樹勢が衰えたので昭和24年に山桜の若根238本を根接ぎしたほか、種々の保護を加え回生を図った。
現在、樹高17.2m、枝張り東西23.9m、南北21.2m、幹囲り9.1mあり、花の盛りは4月上旬である。
４．伝 説 今を去ること1,500余年前、都での迫害を逃れてこの地に潜まれた男大迹王が、長じて29歳の時都に迎えられて皇位を継承し継体天皇と称せられたが、この地を去るに当り形見として植えられたという。
遺された一首の歌がある。
『身(み)の代(しろ)と遺(のこ)す桜は薄住(うすずみ)よ
千代に其の名を栄(さ)盛(か)へ止(とど)むる』
