Let's stop the destruction of Japan's urban forests through over-pruning and build cleaner, greener and healthier cities through better planning and community involvement. 街路樹の過度な剪定をやめさせて、緑の町を作りましょう! Destructive over-pruning of trees is common in too many Japanese cities and leads to bleak, grey cityscapes, and a lower quality of life for all urban inhabitants. It also leads to hotter cities in t
he summer, and higher air-conditioning bills for those of us trying to escape the fierce summer heat and humidity. Research has shown that large, healthy trees are effective in lowering summer daytime temperatures. They help us to relax, improve our health and clean the air - reducing CO2 levels, automobile emissions and more....
With your help, we would like to build a greener and healthier community, by stopping the over-pruning of trees in many parts of our cities, and letting them grow to form a healthy and shade-giving canopy. We would also like to encourage public works projects that incorporate greenery (and not just more concrete) into their designs to encourage the continued greening of our cities. This project will take time to grow as like a tree does, to show and educate people about the many benefits that city trees provide, help stop destructive over-pruning practices and get people together in planting trees on main streets and in urban areas of the city,
Unfortunately, many city governments across Japan have not realized how important it is to have green in a city. There are many cities and towns in Japan where there are simply not enough trees. Every year roadside trees are hacked to a size where they cannot provide any shade during the hot and humid summers. The government likes to portray Japan as an Eco friendly country, well in some ways it is, but for the trees..... ? What you're about see is just an example of what local governments across Japan have done to their trees. It will take time for dedicated people to stop these destructive practices and participate in creating a tree planting organization. This is where it will begin. The first steps will be in planning and coordinating with each other. From there we will take action. We are not interested political power, but action. If you are interested in making an impact on this country, please feel free to leave any comments or ideas that can help make Japan's cities greener places. We can have a positive impact on future generations to come....
