Our sweet shiro- From his foster home!

End of week update 🐾
We have three adorable cats looking for their fur-ever homes! Each one has their own unique personality and so much love to give. If you’re looking to add a new feline friend to your family, one of these sweet kitties may be the perfect match.

Fujin🐾-is a gorgeous tabby boy who is just over 1 year old. He can be a little shy at first and may need some time to warm up, but once he does, he is an absolute sweetheart. Fuji loves exploring his surroundings and never says no to a good meal or snack time!

Sushi🐾- is a very sweet small tortoiseshell kitty with a calm and gentle personality. She is about 2-3 years old and can be a bit shy and will need some adjustment time in a new home, but once comfortable, she is incredibly loving. Sushi loves attention and a relaxed environment, and is a new fan of churus! (Extra video of sushi in the comments!)

Shiro🐾- a truly special gentleman with a one-of-a-kind voice and an even sweeter heart.

This handsome 2 year old boy can be a little shy when meeting new people, but don’t let his quiet introduction fool you. With patience, consistency, and a little time to build trust, he blossoms into a loving companion who adores gentle pets and long brushing sessions. Once he feels safe, he’ll happily let you know how he’s feeling with his unique meow—he’s quite the conversationalist and enjoys using his voice to chat with his favorite people.

He’s a big fan of life’s simple pleasures: lounging in sunny windows, watching the world go by, and chasing wand toys during playtime. He’s also perfectly capable of entertaining himself and enjoys independent play when you’re busy.

Food is one of the fastest ways to his heart, especially if fish is involved. Because he only has a few teeth remaining, his meals need to be softened, but he’s more than happy to clean his bowl when something tasty is served. He thrives on a consistent daily routine and feels most comfortable when he knows what to expect.

A gentle soul through and through, he’s looking for a calm, cat-savvy adopter who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. He would prefer to be the only cat in the home, where he can enjoy all the attention and settle in at his own pace.

For the person willing to give him patience and understanding, he’ll reward you with sweet companionship, charming conversations, and the quiet joy of watching a shy cat learn that he’s finally home.

Hello Misawa community! 🐾

As summer temperatures rise and Fourth of July celebrations approach, it's important to keep pets safe from heat stress and fireworks related anxiety. Make sure pets have access to plenty of fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest, and avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day. Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a short time. During fireworks, keep pets indoors in a secure, comfortable area and ensure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date, as loud noises can cause frightened animals to run away. Watch for signs of heat stress, such as excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or lethargy, and contact your veterinarian if you have concerns. A little preparation can help keep your pets safe and comfortable all summer long.

NEW VOLUNTEER TRAINING DAY!

Do you want to get some volunteer hours in? Do you want to do it around super cute animals? You're in luck!

31 MAY at 0900 around the back of building 1366, PAWS is hosting a volunteer training day! We will be going over our day to day needs, and some upcoming events we will be needing a hand with. We will introduce you to our PAWS Board members, current residents, and you will get access to our Volunteer Only Group!

If you are under the age of 18, you are always welcome (with parent supervision)!!!

Hello everyone! We have a special extra post for our sweet boy shiro and a few words from his foster mom! 🐾

From his foster mom…
Shiro is a sweet boy who is smart, playful, and affectionate. He has grown so much during his time with us. His trust in us, his surroundings, and in himself gets better everyday. And while our home is quiet with just two adults, he has met some visiting guests and warmed up to them very quickly.
Shiro is a fantastic player! He goes crazy for wand toys, toy mice, and his tunnel! He loves to play with us, but can also entertain himself whenever he needs some fun. Other favorite things of his include, sunny windows, brushing, and food. Shiro adores chin, cheek, and head petting. And while he may never be a lap cat, he does enjoy being nearby.
Shiro will make a wonderful companion. He would thrive in a quiet, cat savvy household that understands how to go a cat’s pace. As he recovered in foster care, Shiro slowly began to trust people and completely blossomed. He discovered how much he loves playtime, being brushed, lounging in sunny windows, and watching birds outside. He is curious, gentle, affectionate, communicative, and incredibly handsome.
Shiro would thrive best in a quiet, stable home with cat-savvy adopters who are willing to give him time to adjust at his own pace. Once he trusts you, he becomes a truly wonderful companion.
