Bringing Swiss People in Japan and Japanese interested in Switzerland together. Today, the Swiss Club Tokyo counts about 200 members at the age of 1 to 85.

Dear Compatriots, dear Friends of Switzerland,

The history of the Swiss Club Tokyo begins in 1974, when some Swiss Embassy staff members first invited the local Swiss community to a garden party at the old Embassy. The purpose was to bring Swiss people together, establish contacts with newcomers, make friends and exchange experiences. The party turned out to be a great success and the idea to est

ablish a Swiss Club in Tokyo was born. We organize a variety of events throughout the year, such as the 1st of August party at the Hilton Tokyo Bay poolside, some fun weekends at the sea, a spring barbeque, a Ski holiday in the Japanese Alps, a gorgeous Year End Party, etc. Every last Monday of the month, some of us usually meet at a cosy restaurant near Tokyo Station to socialize over a drink and nice food. There are three types of membership:

What a wonderful Swiss National Day celebration! 🇨🇭🎉

Despite a rather alarming weather forecast predicting heavy thunderstorms, the rain never really arrived. We had just a few drops on the terrace, while the rest of the day was filled with sunshine, laughter, and great company.

With more than 100 participants, it was a fantastic event and a wonderful celebration of the Swiss spirit here in Japan. Seeing so many smiling faces made all the hard work worthwhile.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us—we're already looking forward to the next one!

🎶 Swiss musician Eliane Amherd is coming to Japan! 🇨🇭🇯🇵

New York-based Swiss guitarist, singer and songwriter Eliane Amherd will perform in Chiba and Tokyo this week, bringing her unique blend of jazzy vocals, world music grooves and infectious energy to Japan.
Described by Jazz Times as “an exceptionally good singer, songwriter and guitarist,” Eliane has performed around the world from New York to Buenos Aires, Berlin and Bangkok. Her music has also appeared on Netflix and award-winning TV productions.

🎸 Japan performances:

• Thursday May 22 – Chiba
• Friday May 23 – Tokyo / Setagaya

The Kansai concerts in Osaka and Kobe will follow over the weekend. See attached flyers!

Last Saturday — and for once actually on St. Nicolas Day — we held our traditional Outdoor Christmas Party in the Garden of the Swiss Ambassador’s Residence.
It was a bit on the chilly side, but everyone’s mood was anything but. The little ones had a moment of “uh-oh” when Samichlaus and his slightly intimidating sidekick Schmutzli showed up… but a goodie bag works wonders for childhood trauma.

A big thank you to Ambassador Dubach for making this wonderful event possible!

Some impressions from another fabulous Year End Party, co-organized with the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan.
Our theme this year was “Back to the 80s,” and plenty of guests really went for it — big hair, flashy colors, and all.
The party was a huge success, with a new attendance record of more than 300 guests.
And now the big question… what on earth will next year’s theme be?
