【KEV Tour Report – Course A (Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine & Fukagawa Fudoson Temple)】
https://kev.jp/CourseA.html

🇺🇸 Today we welcomed a wonderful mother and daughter from USA, for our KEV tour in the historic Monzennakacho area.
It was a rainy morning, but the soft rain made the temples and shrines even more atmospheric — perfect for a calm, local experience the guests were hoping for.

🔥 At Fukagawa Fudodo, the guests enjoyed choosing omamori charms before entering the main hall for the Goma fire ritual. They purified their bags and wallets with genuine curiosity, and even took a quiet moment to meditate in the Dainichi Hall.
The rain outside made the incense smoke and lanterns feel even more mystical.

🏯 At Tomioka Hachimangu, we explored the grand torii, the history of sumo, and the impressive monuments dedicated to great Sumo wrestlers.
The guests enjoyed looking at the colorful "ema" boards, reading the wishes, and learning how visitors leave their hopes at the shrine.
Despite the rain, they smiled throughout the tour, taking in every detail of the local culture.

Viorica and Adina, thank you for spending your precious travel time with KEV.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Japan someday!

https://kev.jp/wp/course-f/

🇺🇸 This morning we welcomed two guests — an American lady, a former English teacher and a Japanese lady who was her former English class student — for a peaceful walk through Kameido Tenjin Shrine, beautifully decorated with blooming wisteria.

🌸 The weather was perfect, and the wisteria festival was in full swing with flowers about 80% open.
The purple blossoms hanging over the ponds created a stunning scene, and our guests enjoyed taking in the views — especially the sight of Tokyo Skytree rising behind the shrine.

🍡 Inside the shrine grounds, the famous kuzumochi shop Funabashiya had a festival stall.
We took a short break there, chatted, and completed the tour questionnaire while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Kathy and Keiko, thank you very much for joining our KEV tour today!

If you’re visiting Tokyo during wisteria season, Kameido Tenjin is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy seasonal flowers and local culture.
We’d be delighted to guide you on your next visit.

【KEV Tour Report –Course C: Explore deep inside Tokyo daily life at Sunamachi Ginza】
https://kev.jp/wp/course-c/0

🇦🇺 Today we welcomed a father and daughter from Brisbane, Australia for a relaxed and delicious walk through Sunamachi Ginza — one of Tokyo’s most charming local shopping streets.
The rain from the night before had cleared, giving us perfect weather for exploring this lively neighborhood filled with friendly shop owners and amazing street food.

🍤 Our guests were eager to try Japanese food, so we began with freshly fried aji‑furai and crab croquettes from a popular local deli.
They mentioned they sometimes make miso soup at home, so at Sano Miso they enjoyed a tasting session and asked many great questions to the English‑speaking staff.

🛒 We stopped by a local supermarket and a 100‑yen shop.
They were surprised to learn that in Australia, Daiso items cost nearly twice as much.
They enjoyed browsing through the variety of goods and picking up small items to take home.

🍢 At Takezawa Shoten, they enjoyed freshly grilled yakitori.
Then at the unagi shop, they ordered a beautifully prepared grilled eel and even added a bit of rice to make it feel like a mini unajū.
We also talked about the difference between Tokyo and Osaka styles of preparing eel — a tradition rooted in Edo‑period customs, which fascinated them.

They plan to visit Osaka next and hope to return to Japan again with their whole family next year.

Duncan, thank you very much for joining our KEV tour with you lovely daughter!
We look forward to welcoming your whole family on your next visit to Tokyo!

If you’re looking for a warm, local experience beyond the usual tourist spots, Sunamachi Ginza is the perfect place to explore with our volunteer guides.
We’d love to walk with you on your next visit to Tokyo

🇺🇸 This week we welcomed a wonderful couple from Oregon, US for our early‑morning Toyosu Market tour. They had joined another KEV tour a few days earlier, so it felt like meeting familiar friends again as we started our walk through the quiet, pre‑sunrise market.

🐟 We headed straight to the tuna auction area around 5:20. It was very crowded with several large groups already gathered, but by around 6:00, the space opened up and we could enjoy the auction more comfortably.
One guest had experience working in Alaskan tuna fisheries, so they asked many detailed and professional questions — and our guides were delighted to explain the process.

🍵 After the auction, we visited the “Uogashi Yokocho” at Block .
They were fascinated by the huge tuna knives and seasonal vegetables.
At a tea specialty shop, "Maruyama Nori -ten", we were invited to enjoy a refreshing cup of cold green tea.

🏞️ Rooftop View with Mt. Fuji
the rain had just stopped, when we went up to the 5th‑floor rooftop, and Mt. Fuji appeared beautifully in the distance.

Hailey and Blake, thank you very much for joining our KEV tour again on your last day in Japan!

If you’re visiting Tokyo and want to experience the energy of Toyosu Market with local volunteer guides, we’d be happy to show you around.

https://kev.jp/wp/course-a/

🇺🇸 Today we welcomed a lovely couple from the USA for our “Experience Mysterious Ritual” course in the Fukagawa area.
We met at Monzen-nakacho Station at 10:00 and started our cultural walk through two iconic spots: Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine and Fukagawa Fudodo Temple.

📍 Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine
We explored the torii gate, the main hall, the statue of Ino Tadataka, the sumo wrestler monument, the mikoshi (portable shrine), and the purification fountain.

📍 Fukagawa Fudodo Temple
After entering the temple, they experienced the powerful Goma fire ritual, followed by a purification of their personal items such as mobile phones and sunglasses.
We were happy to hear that this was one of the most memorable moments of their trip so far :)

【KEV Tour Report – Course F: Sumo stable morning training】https://kev.jp/wp/course-f/

🇦🇺 On an April morning, we had the pleasure of guiding a lovely couple from Australia on our Sumo Stable Tour (Course F).

We visited Ootake Stable to observe their morning training.
Since taking photos was not allowed during the intense training, the guests focused entirely on observing the practice with all their senses. Sitting cross‑legged for a long time must have been physically demanding, but they kindly remained fully engaged throughout the session.

During the training, they witnessed:
• Basic exercises such as suri-ashi
• Sanban-geiko
• Moshiai practice
• Butsukari-geiko
• Shiko and stretching

After the practice, we took commemorative photos in front of the stable 📸
Then we walked past Takadagawa Stable and along the cherry‑blossom‑lined Onagigawa River on our way back to Kiyosumi‑Shirakawa Station. It was wonderful to share a bit of Tokyo’s spring scenery with the guests.

Thank you so much for joining our KEV tour!
We hope to welcome you back to Tokyo again someday 🌸

🇳🇿 We welcomed a lovely family from New Zealand who are traveling around Japan during their Easter holidays. Despite the rainy weather, they were full of curiosity and excitement — especially when it came to Japanese food culture!

🏮At the entrance of Sunamachi Ginza, we shared the history and unique charm of this traditional shopping street. From there, we walked through local shops one by one — vegetable stands, fruit shops, florists, butchers, and more.

🍲The family also enjoyed tasting three kinds of miso at a specialty miso shop, and tried freshly grilled eel skewers right on the street. Even in the rain, they happily sampled tempura and strawberry daifuku (dumpling filled with azuki paste), while other treats like takoyaki and karaage became souvenirs to take with them.

☔ Although the weather made street-eating a bit challenging, the guests enthusiasm made the tour truly rewarding.

The Forsters, thank you very much for joining KEV tour!

We look forward to welcoming more travelers who want to experience the everyday charm of Tokyo’s local neighborhoods!

🇦🇺 We welcomed a wonderful family from Australia for a walking tour through Sunamachi Ginza. Despite the light spring rain, they were eager to experience everyday Japanese shopping culture.

🏮 As we walked through the shopping street, local shop owners welcomed the family warmly.
During the tour, the conversation turned to history.
The father showed deep interest in the story of Koto Ward — once devastated by air raids during WWII — and how Sunamachi Ginza grew into a lively postwar shopping street.

☔Despite the rain and unexpected schedule changes, the family’s kindness, curiosity, and cultural openness made the tour truly special.

The Nguyens, thank you very much for joining KEV tour!

We look forward to welcoming more travelers who want to explore Tokyo’s everyday life and history.

🇺🇸 We welcomed a lovely couple from the United States for our Fukagawa Edo Museum tour. Thanks to the photo they shared in advance, we found each other at Kiyosumi‑Shirakawa Station with no trouble at all :)

Inside the museum, we explored the everyday life of Edo‑period townspeople from the mid‑19th century. The guests chose this tour because they enjoy places that are less crowded and full of local charm — and we’re happy Fukagawa matched their travel style.

The guests enjoyed learning about Edo culture, and we enjoyed hearing about their life stories, North Carolina industries. It was a very nice moment of cultural exchange.

Ralph and Joyce, thank you for joining our KEV tour!

We look forward to welcoming more travelers who want to explore Tokyo’s quieter, culture‑rich neighborhoods.

🇩🇪 We welcomed a friendly family from Germany to our Tomioka Hachimangu & Fukagawa Fudo tour.
It was their last day in Japan after visiting Kyoto, Nara, Matsumoto, Takayama, and Kanazawa. The guests even joined a ramen‑making class during their trip!

⛩️At Tomioka Hachimangu, the guests enjoyed learning about sumo handprints, the beautiful mikoshi, and shrine customs.
They asked great questions about Jizo statues, phoenix symbols, and Japanese traditions.

🔥 At Fukagawa Fudo, we together experienced the powerful Goma fire ritual, received blessings, and explored the prayer corridor with deep curiosity.
Despite light rain, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, making the morning even more special.

🇦🇺 We recently welcomed a wonderful couple from Melbourne on Okonomiyaki Dinner Tour.
It was the guests' first trip to Japan, and even on a rainy evening, they were excited to explore Tokyo with us.
Starting from Suitengumae Station, we enjoyed a relaxed night walk along the Sumida River.
The illuminated Kiyosu Bridge, Eitai Bridge, and the glowing Tokyo Skytree created a beautiful atmosphere 🌉✨

At a cozy local restaurant in Monzen Nakacho, we had okonomiyaki and monjayaki, and it was the very first time experience for the guests. We shared several dishes.🥢
The guests also enjoyed umeshu (plum liquer) and imo (potato) shochu, adding to the fun food experience.

✨It was a warm night filled with good food, great conversation, and cultural exchange — the kind of moment we love at KEV.

Sandra and Alan, thank you very much for joining our KEV tour!
