One plastic bottle will live at least six times longer than you will.
It takes anywhere from 450 to 1,000 years to break down in a landfill.
But it doesn’t truly go away. It just breaks into tiny pieces, polluting our soil and water.
And in a worst-case scenario... end up right back inside our bodies.
Buying a bottle from a vending machine is too easy. 10 seconds. 1-2 coins. Half a day later, the water is gone.
But it takes HALF A MILLENIUM for the bottle to (maybe) return to nature.
Is that fair?
We recently got to check out the amazing water refill stations at the Osaka Expo 2025 site.
Just pull out your own bottle, and boom 💦 you’ve got clean, delicious water, zero purchase necessary.
Imagine if big cities in Japan (and everywhere else!) put these stations up. It proves that even a small change - like carrying your bottle - can become a HUGE movement.
Every single time you choose your reusable bottle, you are directly shortening the life of trash on this planet.

私たちが買ったペットボトルは、あなたの人生より最低でも6倍長生きします。
埋め立て地で分解されるまでに、なんと450年から1000年もかかるんです。
しかも、完全に消えるわけではありません。ただただ細かく砕けて、土壌や水を汚染していきます。最悪の場合、その破片は私たちの体内にまで入ってしまうのです。
自動販売機で水を買うのは、あまりにも簡単です。たったの10秒、たった百均。半日もすれば飲み終えてしまいます。
でも、そのボトルが自然に還るまでには、半世紀、つまり500年もかかるのです。
これってやばくない？
先日、私たちは大阪・関西万博2025の会場で見かけた素晴らしい給水ステーションを体験してきました。
自分の水筒を取り出し、そのまま給水。たったそれだけで、何回も水分補給したくても新しく購入する必要もなく、美味しい水が飲めるんです。♻️ すごくいいと思いました！
もし、自動販売機文化が世界一発達している日本で、このような給水ステーションが全ての主要都市に設置されたら、どれほどの変化が起こるでしょうか？
