- みなしご救援隊の活動 -
① 終生飼養
‘小さな命が尽きるまで’
人間の身勝手により遺棄されたり，虐待を受けたり，傷病等の理由により， 一般家庭では引き取り手のない犬猫たちを積極的に保護し，当施設「終生育成ルーム」にて小さな命が尽きるときまで責任を持って育てる【終生飼養】を行って います。
治療・看病・介護，虐待等の心のケア，各種ワクチン予防薬の接種投与，不妊 手術等，配餌，衛生管理，美容等，不幸な境遇にある犬猫が生涯快適に暮らせるよう，生活全般の世話を行う活動をしています。
② 譲渡活動
‘生きる命を生かそう’
動物管理センターや動物愛護センター等の行政機関に持ち込まれ'殺処分対象
'となってしまった犬猫を１匹でも多く救うため，健康状態を整えた上で，広く一般に公開し，'新しい飼い主'を探す【譲渡活動】を行っています。そこでは、犬猫の保護・預かり引き渡すまでの配餌・衛生管理・美容等生活全般の世話や一般家庭で引き取ってもらえるよう，しつけ・訓練等を行っています。
③ 動物愛護の啓発・適正飼養の推進活動
‘捨てない・殺さない・持ち込まない’
生命尊重に基づき，‘捨てること・殺すこと’より‘増やさないこと’を前 提とした不妊手術等の普及活動，飼い主が抱える多種多様な悩みの相談にのり， 犬 猫たちができるだけ今の場所で適正に飼養されるようアドバイスする活動を行 っています。
また、積極的に野良猫のTNR活動を行うと共に、TNR手術費無料キャンペーンも行っています。
④ 青少年の健全育成活動
‘すべては慈しみの心から’
教育委員会や保護者等からの依頼や自主事業の実施により，児童・生徒に， 小さな命が人間により傷つけられ，また人間の善意で助けられ育まれている様子 や小さな命が消えていく現状等を正しく知らせ，命の大切さを教える情操教育の一助を担う活動を行っています。
⑤ 高齢社会におけるコミュニティ活動
‘小さな命を受け継ぐご縁を大切に’
高齢者の飼養に関する悩み、将来的な不安等の相談にのる活動を行っております。身体的・精神的機能低下を余儀なくされた独り暮らし等の高齢者らから依頼を受け，動物病院・ペット美容店への搬送，散歩等の世話，飼養に関する不安等 の相談にのる活動を行っています。犬猫をつうじてのご縁を大切にし，安否確認も兼ねた連 絡の取り合いを行い，社会的に孤立しがちな高齢者らが伴侶動物である犬猫と安 心して暮らしていける社会づくりに貢献する活動を行っています。
⑥ 思いやりの心を育む美しい町づくり活動
人も動物も住みやすい町
飼い主のいない猫のことで困っている人からの相談受付，飼い主のいない猫 への適正な餌の与え方のアドバイス，公園等の公共施設内での置き餌の後片付け ・糞の後始末活動等の実施を通して，他人（の立場）を慮り相互理解を深めるこ とにより，人にも動物にも優しく，かつ美しい町づくりを目指す活動を行っています。

① Lifetime Care
"Till a small life burns out"
We rescue and tend to the animals which are abandoned, abused, sick and neglected. We provide medical treatments which include: vaccinations, neutering and spaying operations, nursing and caring for the animals' mental health needs (usually due to an owner abusing them). We try to provide them the most comfortable and relaxing home possible.
② Re-homing
"Make every life count"
We rescue cats and dogs which are brought to the animal control centers to be euthanized. Saving as many as possible is our mission. We ensure they are healthy before actively trying to find them a new home. While with us, we feed, groom and ensure their environment is clean and safe. Under our care, they are disciplined and trained to enable them to be re-homed.
③ Spreading Animal Welfare Awareness
"No animal left behind"
We encourage pet owners to neuter or spay their animals in order to control the stray animal population. Advice and animal guidance is offered when pet owners have issues or questions regarding their pets. Our organization works very hard to make the Trap Neuter Release (TNR) program successful. We offer campaigns to have free-of-charge TNR operations for stray cats.
④ Educate the Younger Generation
"Everything starts with compassion"
The Board of Education and parents of children approach our organization to educate the children on the realistic views of how pets are really being treated. The children are taught that there are people who help animals and there are those who mistreat them. Our main objective is to teach the children that life is precious.
⑤ Assitance for Elderly Pet Owners
"Lasting friendships through animals"
We help the elderly with pets by taking their pets to the veterinary clinic, groomers, taking them on walks and giving advice when they have issues. The bond we have with the elderly is through their pets. We often contact them to ensure that both the elderly and their pets are safe since the elderly is often isolated from the community.
⑥ Creating a Caring and Thoughtful Community
"People and animals living in harmony"
We advise people on how to feed stray cats and also how to clean up after them in public places. By creating a respectful atmosphere, it enables animals and the community to live harmoniously together.

● NPO法人 犬猫みなしご救援隊代表: 中谷百里
2011年3月20日から始めた福島原発被災動物保護活動を長期間にわたりに遂行するため、同年8月1日に栃木県那須塩原市に敷地面積800坪のシェルターを設け、常時2~300匹の犬猫たちが飼い主の元へ帰れる日まで保護育成しております。
これまでに延べ1000匹以上の犬・猫と自宅で寝起きを共にし、
それだけの数の犬・猫を飼養し、看取った経験からかけがえのない‘小さな命’の大切さを痛感し、2002年に動物たちの供養がしたいために仏教に帰依。2006年からはNPO法人・犬猫みなしご救援隊の一員として
動物愛護の啓発に取り組むかたわら、動物病院で看護士として働きながら、2007年に建設したNPO法人・犬猫みなしご救援隊の
終生飼育ホーム内で、約600匹の犬・猫たちの生活全般の世話を
ボランティアスタッフと一緒になって行っております。

In order to carry out long-term animal relief activities in and around the areas devastated by the Fukushima nuclear disaster that began on 20 March 2011, an 800 square meter animal shelter was built in Nasushiobara, Tochigi on 1 August 2011. This facility cares for 200 to 300 cats and dogs until they are reunited with their owners. She has lived with and cared for over 1,000 cats and dogs. Caring for cats and dogs has allowed her to appreciate the preciousness of life. In 2002 she devoted her life to Buddhism and to the memorial of animals. She has been a member of the NPO group Inuneko Minashigo Kyuentai since 2006 working in a veterinary hospital and spreading awareness for animal welfare. She is responsible for taking care of approximately 600 cats and dogs in the Life Care Home which, with a volunteer staff, was built in 2007. Occupation: Construction worker at Alec Ltd. Never giving up even in the face of adversity. She began working with Minashigo Kyuentai 14 years ago. Prior to this she had zero experience with cats and dogs. Working with the organization has allowed her to learn something new every day.
