約30年ぶり、海外の五輪金メダリストが日本のマッチレースへ！
女性の五輪金メダリストとしては、日本初の参戦です。
2012年ロンドン五輪女子レーザーラジアル級金メダリスト、Lily Xu（リリー・シュー）が、全日本マッチレース選手権に出場します！
今回、Lilyは自ら参加を希望。スキッパーとして一人で来日し、日本の有望な若手セーラーと新しいチームを組んで戦います。
五輪金メダリストと同じ艇で風を読み、判断を共有し、力を合わせて勝利を目指す。若手たちとのチームワークにも注目です。
迎え撃つ国内スキッパーは、市川航平、加藤琢也、村越俊介、日置賢人、牧野碧、渡辺康晴、合原輔佑太の7人。世界で戦う実力派から経験豊富なベテラン、学生マッチから挑戦を広げる若手まで、招待枠いっぱいの8チームがそろいました。
⛵ 世界のセーラーは、対戦相手にも、チームメートにもなる。
大会側が艇を用意するマッチレースでは、海外のセーラーと現地でチームを組んで挑むこともできます。今回のLilyのように、日本の選手が海外へ渡り、新しい仲間とレースに出る道もあります。

Olympic gold medalist returns international spotlight to match racing in Japan!
For the first time in approximately 30 years, an overseas Olympic gold medalist will compete as a skipper in a match racing event in Japan — and for the first time, that skipper will be a female Olympic champion.
Lijia “Lily” Xu, London 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the Women’s Laser Radial, will compete in the All Japan Match Racing Championship this October!
Lily herself expressed her interest in taking part. She will travel to Japan as skipper and form a new team with talented young Japanese sailors.
Imagine sailing on the same boat as an Olympic champion — reading the wind together, sharing tactical decisions and working as one team to win a match. The teamwork between Lily and her young Japanese crew will be one of the stories to watch.
Waiting to challenge Lily are seven Japanese skippers: Kohei Ichikawa, Takuya Kato, Shunsuke Murakoshi, Kento Hioki, Aoi Makino, Yasuharu Watanabe and Shuta Gohara.
From internationally experienced sailors and established match racing competitors to young sailors expanding their challenge from student match racing, the full eight-team field is ready.
⛵ The world’s sailors can become your opponents — and your teammates.
One of the great attractions of match racing is that boats are often supplied by the organizers. This makes it possible for sailors to travel overseas and form teams with local sailors.
Just as Lily is coming to Japan to race with Japanese sailors, Japanese sailors can travel overseas, meet new teammates and take on new challenges.

The battle begins even before the start.
Every decision matters.
And teamwork can decide the match.
Match racing is gaining new momentum in Japan — and it also offers a unique way to connect with the sailing world.
