FuJET

FuJET is a volunteer organisation in Fukushima prefecture, and a close-knit community

FuJET is the Fukushima branch of the National Association for Japan Exchange and Teaching (AJET), a national organization founded by participants of the JET Program. While AJET supports JETs on a national level, FuJET supports ALTs and CIRs, both JET and independent, a little closer to home by providing news, information on life and teaching in Japan, and a close-knit community. Among other things

, FuJET is responsible for:
◊organizing several FuJET trips and social events throughout the year in various parts of the prefecture and other parts of Japan so that our participants have the opportunity to meet, greet, and tour the "lucky island" that they call home.
◊working in collaboration with Eyes for Fukushima (E4F), a charity aimed at promoting grassroots internationalization and devoted to improving the lives of those affected by the March 2011 Earthquake.
◊publishing the FuJET Kanji Survival Guide to help non-Japanese speakers living in Japan.
◊sharing local events happening throughout Fukushima
◊providing a supportive social network for foreigners living in Fukushima.

Whether you’re looking for kitchen goods🔪, furniture🪑 , games🎮🃏, clothes👕👗, decorations🎄, electronics🔌, books📕, or random hidden gems🎷, along and see what everyone has to offer! It’s a relaxed and friendly way to swap, sell, browse, and chat with other JETs. Even if you have nothing to sell, you're still very welcome for the garage sale!

Save the Date - June! ☀️

As summer rolls in, we want to host an exciting double event - Garage Sale and Taskmaster Evening! 💌 Here, you can bring your clothing, electronics, books and anything in search of a new home to sell or trade with others at our selling event in Koriyama City 🛍️💰

Following this, is the super return of our Taskmaster style game show hosted by FuJET Council, where you can complete fun tasks in groups and have a nice social after our garage sale with some refreshments 🥤🍦☕

Further details like time and venue will be announced soon, but please mark your calendars for Saturday 27th June. We hope to see you there! 😊

Join us for a hike up Mt. Bandai! ⛰️ A great medium-level trail with an easy start and a steeper, rocky push near the peak. You can stop at the first summit or go all the way—either way, the views are worth it.

We have an exciting Canyoning event in the works that you can now register your interest for through the Google form in our bio! 📝🌊

🚤 What is Canyoning? This is a water sport where you work in groups to explore and make your way across canyons! Our trip is beginner friendly and will have experienced instructors with us every step of the way!

🌊 When and where? We have two dates in mind, but it will be a weekend in September, taking place in Fox Canyons in Gunma Prefecture (transport is included from Fukushima City, Koriyama and Aizu Wakamatsu stations 🚌)

More information is available in the Google form, please give it a read and we hope you'll join us for this super exciting trip! This is an event FuJet hasn't been able to run in recent years, so we'd love to make it happen with you guys 😊

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our strawberry picking event 🍓✨
From searching for the prettiest and ugliest strawberries (you all really understood the assignment 😂) to filling cups—and bellies—with sweet, juicy berries, it was such a joy to share this day with you.
Huge congratulations to our contest winners 🏆 (featured in the collage!) and to everyone who participated—you made it so fun and memorable.

🌬️ Spring is... coming along 🥶 and with a new school year comes a new FuJET Council. Are you interested in organizing group events? How about doing more volunteer activities around Fukushima prefecture? Or do you just want to diversify yourself and socialize more?
Why not work with the FuJET Council?

FuJET Council is looking for people to sign up for the new Council to fill in four general roles. These roles can be reorganized however the new Council wishes, but we're looking for a President, Vice President, Treasurer and Media Manager. Plus you don't need to be a JET to sign up either!

Thank you to everyone who joined our ice-skating event! ⛸️❄️
It was amazing to see people encouraging one another, helping each other stay balanced, and sharing so many smiles on the ice. Even though the arena was cold, the kindness and support between everyone truly warmed the whole place.
We’re so grateful to everyone who came and made this event such a fun and positive experience. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and we look forward to skating together again soon! 💙

⛸️❄️ FuJET: Ice Skate & Soak – March 1st! ♨️
Let’s enjoy the last of the cold weather with a trip to Bandai-Atami Indoor Ice Arena! We’ll spend the afternoon skating, then unwind at one of the nearby Bandai-Atami onsens—just a short walk from Bandai-Atami Station.
🗓 Sunday, March 1st, 2026 🕜 1:30pm–3:30pm skating (onsens after!)
Costs: 💴 Arena entry: ¥400 ⛸ Skate rental: ¥300 🔒 Locker: ¥50 ♨️ Onsen: ~¥0–¥700 depending on location
No reservations needed — feel free to come and go as you like! Bring snacks if you need (no food sold at the rink).
We’ll likely split into smaller groups for the onsens, but we’ll help coordinate if needed.
