アジアン・カルチュラル・カウンシル（ACC）は、ビジュアル及びパフォーミング・アーツの分野における、アメリカとアジア、そしてアジア諸国間での国際文化交流を支援するアメリカの非営利財団です。

ACCは、助成金の交付だけでなく、芸術家や専門家が行なう研究、調査、旅行、創作活動において必要なさまざまな支援をします。母国を離れ、これまでと違う環境に身をおく中での様々な不便さの中で、個人の創造性を最大限に発揮させ、生涯にわたる活動に大きな変革と影響を与えうる機会を提供すること、そして、それらがゆくゆくは彼らのコミュニティにまで波及していくことが重要と考えます。

1963年のプログラム発足以来、アメリカとアジア地域における約6,000人のグランティ（助成受給者）のネットワークにより、文化を超えた対話と相互理解の機会が生まれ続けています。

ACCでは、米国とアジア間、およびアジア域内での文化交流を目的としたフェローシップ活動を行う、アーティスト、研究者、芸術分野の専門家、団体を支援しています。

チウ・ヤンさん（ACC 2026）が日本で約4ヶ月間のフェローシップを行なっています！
QIU Yang (ACC 2026) conducting his four-month fellowship in Japan!

チウ・ヤンさんは、人々の私的な物語や日常にある共通の経験を通して、通底する人間性や脆弱性を探究する映画監督です。
今回のフェローシップでは、沖縄に暮らす人々やコミュニティ、特に地域の地政学的緊張のもとで生きる人々の個人的な物語を調査・記録します。那覇を拠点に、沖縄各地を訪れ、慰霊施設や博物館を巡るとともに、地域住民や研究者、政治家、コミュニティ・グループとの交流を行います。オーラルヒストリー、アーカイブ調査、フィールドワークを通して、沖縄の複雑な歴史や社会的背景が、世代を超えた人間関係や記憶、日常生活にどのような影響を及ぼしているのかを探ります。自ら選んだものではない歴史とともに人々がどのように生きているのか、家庭はいかにしてレジリエンスの場となってきたのか、そして私たちの日常の葛藤がどのように静かに共有されているのかを理解することを目指しています。

Qiu Yang is a filmmaker whose practice explores intimate stories and shared human experience to understand our common humanity and vulnerability.
During his fellowship in Japan, he will research and document the personal stories of people and communities in Okinawa, particularly those living with the pressures of regional geopolitical tension. Based in Naha, he will travel across the islands, visiting memorial sites and museums and meeting ordinary local residents, scholars, politicians, and community groups. Through oral-history gathering, archival research, and field observation, he will explore how Okinawa’s complex history and social landscape shape relationships, memories, and everyday lives across generations. He hopes to learn how people persist with histories not of their choosing, how homes can become sites of resilience, and how our common daily struggles are quietly shared.

川上アチカさん、井戸沼紀美さんインドネシア、タイへ!
Atiqa KAWAKAMI and Kimi IDONUMA (ACC 2026) in Indonesia and Thailand!

川上アチカさんと井戸沼紀美さんが、インドネシア、タイにて約3ヶ月のフェローシップを行っています。アジアにおけるオルタナティブな映画ネットワークを調査し、政治的・社会的な制約のもと、商業映画とは異なる場で、芸術としての映画の上映、制作、教育を行うコレクティブの実践と戦略を学びます。インドネシアでは、アート映画を通したコミュニティ運営や、地域の住民との協働を調査するとともに、日本とインドネシアの映画コレクティブ間の交流や、植民地主義の歴史と映画をテーマとした共同ワークショップ・上映会の可能性を探ります。タイでは、多様な団体と連携しながら実践されてきた上映会、短編映画祭、出版等の活動を調査し、また各都市で新たに立ち上がっている映画コレクティブや上映の場をつなぐ協働の実践についても学びます。こうした調査や交流を通して、アジアにおける持続的な映画コレクティブ・ネットワークの形成や協働の機会を生み出すことを目指します。

Atiqa Kawakami and Kimi Idonuma are undertaking a three-month fellowship in Indonesia and Thailand. They aim to explore alternative film networks in Asia, learning from the practices and strategies of collectives that, under political and social constraints, create spaces for the screening, production, and education of film as an art form outside the commercial film industry. In Indonesia, they explore community management and local engagement through art films, while investigating opportunities for exchange between film collectives in Japan and Indonesia, including joint workshops and screenings on the history of colonialism and film. In Thailand, they will research screenings, short film festivals, publishing, and other initiatives developed through collaboration among diverse organizations, as well as how emerging film collectives and screening venues across different cities connect and work together. Through their research and exchanges, they hope to contribute to a sustainable network of film collectives across Asia and create new opportunities for collaboration.

クララ・チャウさん（ACC 2026）が日本で約6ヶ月間のフェローシップを行なっています！
Clara CHOW (ACC 2026) conducting her six-month fellowship in Japan!

小説、ノンフィクション、詩の分野で活動するクララ・チャウさんは、出版、実験的な執筆、パフォーマンスアートを横断する芸術的実践にも取り組んでいます。2018年から、紙の供物「冥紙」を用いた詩のプロジェクトに取り組み、長編の原稿や一連のワークショップへと発展させてきました。今回のフェローシップでは、日本各地を巡り、伝統的な火祭りを体験・記録しながら、火が持つ文化的・心理的な意味や、時代とともに変化してきた人々の信仰や実践について探究します。読後に燃やされることを想定した詩とフィクションの書籍制作の一環として、地域の人々や、紙漉き職人、墨職人、紙細工師など、祭りに携わる職人たちとの交流を行います。また、詩の制作や地域の人々との交流を通じて、シンガポールの華人としての自身の文化的背景から、火をめぐる伝統について考察します。

Clara Chow is a writer working across fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, whose artistic practice spans conventional publishing, experimental writing, and performance art. Since 2018, she has been developing a poetry project using joss paper, which has grown into a full-length book manuscript and a series of public workshops. During her fellowship in Japan, she will travel to various regions to experience and document traditional fire festivals, exploring the cultural and psychological meanings of fire and how these beliefs and practices have evolved over time. As part of her ongoing project of creating a book of poetry and fiction intended to be burned after reading, she will engage with local communities and the craftspeople involved in these festivals, including paper-makers, ink-makers, and paper sculptors. She will also explore burning traditions from her Singaporean-Chinese cultural perspective through poetry and exchanges with local people.

ACC 2025年度グランティ　
千賀健史さんインドへ！
Kenji CHIGA (ACC 2025) in India!

千賀健史さんが、インドにて約1ヶ月のフェローシップを行っています。
千賀さんは、社会に内在する見えにくい構造や力学を読み解き、リサーチをベースに、写真を中心とした実験的な表現を取り入れた作品を制作しています。
今回のフェローシップでは、インドで行われている芝居活動に着目し、経済的に困難な状況にある村に暮らす人々が運営する演技クラスを訪問し、彼らの活動を支援する関係者との交流も行います。芝居で他者になりすますことを通して、社会の中で与えられた役割とは異なる役割を模索する可能性や、芝居という表現によって社会にメッセージを発信することの意味について理解を深めます。

Kenji Chiga is currently undertaking a fellowship of approximately one month in India.
Chiga explores the less visible structures and dynamics embedded within society. Grounded in research, he creates works that incorporate photography and other experimental forms of expression.
During the fellowship, he will explore theatrical practices in India, visiting acting classes run by people in economically disadvantaged villages and connecting with those who support their activities. Through the act of taking on the roles of others, he will explore the possibility of seeking roles different from those assigned to people within society, as well as the meaning of communicating messages to society through theater as a form of expression.
